Need to sell: 2012 E92 ZCP 6 SPEED Price?
Hey Guys,
Sadly after 2 years of ownership its time to part ways with my favorite car. I've had a child and need cash to reno a home I'm moving into this year. Need help finding a good asking price for my M3 as it means a lot to me but I need to be realistic. 2012 E92 M3 69,500miles Space Gray Carbon Top No Accidents Clean Car Fax -6 speed -Comp Pack -Premium Audio -2 Tone Black/Fox Red seats -EDC -Stock Throttle actuators The Good -BE Rod Bearings and bolts-6000miles ago -Motor Mounts and Sparkplugs same time as bearings -All Fluids changed last 6,000miles (Trans, Diff, Radiator) -Comp Rims with PS4S tires -6000miles on them -OEM Exhaust Mod -Catless Test pipes with Turner Motorsports tune -MS intake -MS underdrive pulley -Ground Control coilover conversion using stock working EDC struts -F10 M5 shift knob The Bad -Front bumper has a lot of rock chips. Deff needs a respray -Carbon Roof is a little yellowed with a couple rick chip sized cracks in the clear -Headliner is falling. Lived last 2 years outside in the Florida sun and its been falling progressively over the last 6-7 months. -Crack in paint on rear bumper. Been there since I bought it and hasn't gotten worse -Leather on driver seat a little worn looking but overall interior is good other than the headliner -Rock chip/crack in the windshield I've been hesitant to have fixed due to not wanting cheap Chinese glass replaced by insurance. Should I just get it done or sell as is? I was thinking of pricing it in the $28,500 range because of the expensive BE bearings and service. I feel more comfortable in the $30K range but need to be realistic. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks Last edited by 8500RPM; 05-23-2020 at 10:42 AM.. |

you mentioned florida sun and headliner falling.... naturally one wonders what condition the CF roof is in. if the gel coat is failing and peeling off then you're in big trouble.... rock chip in it bothers me too. otherwise IMO 30-31 is the sweet spot considering headliner issue and bumper damage which is kinda offset by rod bearing job if you can prove it has been done. you could even spend a grand to respray front and rear bumpers to make it more attractive

My personal input, color combo/options are cool, bearings done is good, but both those numbers sound high given the cosmetic work that needs to be done.
Chips in the clear on the carbon roof are not going to be a cheap fix when the roof eventually starts shedding. Both bumpers in chipped/cracked condition are another expense; I would bet that if you put in the money to spray them, you'd get a much better price more in line with what you want. |

Thanks for the feedback guys. Don't have any times on my hands dealing with my 9month old so I'll see about pricing for a respray and putting it on the market soon.
Thank You |

Steep considering all the cosmetic issues and headliner falling.

Congrats on the new addition to the family! I vaguely remember those days and I get tired just thinking about it ...
I am no longer in the market for E9x M3, but when I was I really only cared about the two big ticket items: Had the RB and TA been done and were there receipts to support the work? I knew I would be doing a PPI to pickup on anything else major. If you could post pictures that would really assist, but to me the headliner, windshield chip, and rock chips on front bumper are cosmetic and can be fixed relatively easily. Carbon roof can be tricky and would need to see it to understand better. If it were me selling the car, I'd clean up the cosmetic issues as best I could without having to paint anything along with the safety issue (windshield, pay for OEM if you have that option) and price it at $27.5k, and take the strongest buyer who can move quickly having cash or financing already in place. With a new baby I don't see that you have a lot of time to negotiate or take time to sift through a number of tire kickers; do the cosmetic work, detail it to perfection, and take great pictures and you'll get a "motivated" buyer who can move quickly an not waste your time. You have a tremendous car, congrats again and good luck with decision/sale! Quote:
