New Brake rotor - abnormal wear

A month ago I put on new brakes rotors and stop tech sport pads on the front of my e92 m3. No shakes or rattles on braking, performance seems good.
Their is some kind of oscillating grinding noise as the wheel rotates at low speeds.
The wear on the outer rim of the rotor is same on both sides and both show some weird lines. I’ve never seen this kind of wear before. Should I be worried?

Yeah looks strange, like the pad doesn't bite om the outer edge. Did you break them in properly after replacement?

Garage List
That to me looks like the original machining marks that haven't been worn off yet.

I have the same issue but with more mileage driven over this past winter. The outer rotor edge doesn't seem to be in contact with the pads. At the moment, it has vibration upon braking at 130km/h. I suspect the pad and caliper carrier contacts are sticking and don't slide freely. I will take it off to check this week.

I did the proper bedding procedure. Brakes bite well. There's no vibration. The marks are crazy strange. you'd think if something was not good, it would go evenly around the entire rotor in a circle, not vertical criss cross hash marks.

this one puzzles me

this is my guess now. there's a ton of machine marks at first so it blends together, but only looks strange now since most of the pad contact is wearing towards the inside portion of the rotor

OP, did you come to some conclusions on this? Replaced rotors/padd the other week, works fine but the outer half of rear rotors doesn't wear in/get shiny. Strange as old rear rotors had similar wear and lips as fronts (also strange but as design seem to be).

Double check you have the metal caliper clip installed correctly. It is possible to install it incorrectly and the brakes will sort of work, but cause uneven rotor wear. Check out this thread from LakeSurfer here for more info.

Thanks, clip seems okay, still weak wear on rear.
