Info on Premium Wiring harness
I bought one of Technic's Premium wiring harness so I could upgrade my under seat speakers with SWS shallow subs. The remote turn on wire that outputs from the supplied LOC has voltage that fluctuates with the music that is playing. Now the whole thread about these harnesses for sale seem to have disappeared. this is not the forst time a thread has just vanished from here. What's up ?

The problem in your installation is that your amp ground connection is weak/poor, so your amp is trying to get whatever ground it can thru the LOC, therefore messing everything up. |

I have done a meticulous chassis ground and the voltage still changes with the music being played. Gorunded exactly like The aftermarket amp only turns on when playing the premiums stereo at very high volumes. How do I get the Remote from the LOC to output a constant ~12V ?

Yes still have the problem even when I followed you email steps. I had to play my stereo at high volumes to get my amp to turn on. So high, that I just blew both my sws 4ohm speakers. Glue smell and now no sound coming from them . i waited SO long for this damn harness and it has been such a headache!!!
I am running Jl audio 750/1 HD to these subs. Is this amp too much for them to handle? |

I hope that you understand that I do not have any control on your installation or amp used, other that the harness. If the harness was not turning the amp on then this was a matter of returning the harness completely for a refund or the LOC for an exchange. |

I did swap out your LOC converter for a PAC 2 channel model and was experiencing the same issue. I've re-grounded the amp using 4 AWG to both the negative lead of the batter and to the metal bracket that goes over top of the battery with the same result.... |

I have run a wire from the constant 12v to remote and amp powers on fine. So no worries with the amp. Using a multimeter the voltage output from Both LOC's remote wires jumps up and down with the music that is playing and is also dependant on how loud the system is playing.

Sounds like the LOC is prewired to the harness so input power is coming from somewhere in there.
Technic, is there a relay built in to the harness to buffer the remote turn on lead? Could this be a bad relay?

Think about this for a second... you have two different LOC doing exactly the same. This LOC, or any LOC with signal sensing uses the OEM amp 12V and ground to supply the 12V remote signal when it senses voltage in the woofer output lines.
This particular LOC have been installed in a 5-Series HiFi amp, in the Logic7 and in the Enhanced Premium Audio amps without any issues. The Enhanced Premium Audio puts out some 5V just by opening a door, no music playing. If you have to turn the volume up -the EPS OEM amp can put 20V easily at mid volume with heavy bass, maxed out at 32V- then the problem is -again- your aftermarket amp or, worse, the OEM amp woofer outputs got somehow damaged. There's no way around this, especially after two different LOCs. Of course, that's assuming that the harness itself is not damaged or cut in the wrong place. I know of exactly two remote signal issues with my harness LOC, including yours. And the first one was caused by the aftermarket amp ground (weak/loose). If there is a third case of the remote signal not working then I have not been notified, and my deleted thread was very clear: this harness have a 1 year warranty as long as it is not modified in any way. So there is no reason of trying to troubleshoot something that it can be simply replaced by just PM with the issue. |

Dont see how it could be "cut in wrong place" I cut both left and right underseat woofer wires on the harness and they were both playing. Since they were both playing and nothing else was cut I would rule that out. It just sucks that a plug and play solution has turned to be a headache. My SWS are blown and my amp is getting a funny remote signal.

There must be a cut somewhere, as two LOCs are not getting enough voltage to trigger their internal relay. Again, it is either that or there is still a ground problem somewhere so your amp is choking two LOCs... How you connected the second LOC? Did you cut completely the first LOC soldered connection? Use a multimeter and measure the voltage at either positive woofer output without any music playing, right after opening the trunk/door. There should be plenty of voltage indicated without any music playing. |

Dont know didnt re-test. took it to a local stereo shop and they said they have to run a remote from the cigarette adapter. Just want to say this was a big ordeal i waited 2 months for you to finally produce the damn harness and was expecting a plug and play solution. I dint think I have to test voltages and all that BS. Thought it was going to plug and play. Took apart my trunk . Spent 2 days on this project and have a mess and no functional speakers . It just plain sucks. Not saying its your fault but this whole experience is
