I have a much less-capable Verizon phone that when synced into the bluetooth, I sound perfect to whomever I am speaking with. Very irritating
Try switching off WIFI (if its on). I've found that can mess up the audio on the call.

BTW, I've being using my 2G iphone with the original cradle for about 7 months. I've found the signal strength really good, in areas where typically the phone would have low signal strength if it wasnt in the cradle ... so give it some time before making judgement.

As a shameless plug, since I recently sold my M3 ... I'm now selling the iphone cradle and base plate. Check out the for sale part of the forum ....

1.) I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think so. When I tested my 3G, I slipped it in the cradle and it seemed a pretty secure fit, and there is a top clip, that hold the phone in place. I think a kin-type case might affect the connection at the bottom as well as clip at the top. Best thing I can say is drop by your dealer and give it a try. I used a leather belt case, so not an issue.

2.) Personal preference. I tested at the dealer and the Y-Cable worked fine. Listened to music, sent/received a call, and uploaded contacts. All worked fine. I ordered the cradle so the phone would not slide around and I would still have the option off hooking up a separate iPod. I'm hoping that I have more consistent signal strength as well. Of course, when I ordered 6FL and 6FN with the car, back in January, I didn't know half that I do now from the forum!!

Hope that helps.
