I'm trying to PM Technic about his harness, but it seems I need to make some posts here before using the PM system. How many posts do I need to make?

Thanks

Technic,

Do you have a harness that will work with a 2011 E93 system and a JBL-MS8 that would make it easy enough to install for a total audio newbie?

Thank you.

If the E93 system is Harman Kardon then yes, I have the harness. If the system is the standard HiFi then I will have the harness hopefully next month.

Yes, it's standard HiFi. Let me know when you have that harness available. I'll order all my stuff after I order the harness. Do you have a website with all your stuff that this site won't let you post by any chance?

Thanks

Unfortunately the mating connector for that new 12V/ground jack is not available.

Sucks. I guess I am going to have to cut some wires after all. It shouldn't necessarily be more complicated now that the 12v/ground are separate, right?

What can be done is to use the same 12V and ground that you will be using anyways with the aftermarket amp and connect those two wires to the LOC, no need to cut any OEM wires.

That's it.

The remote line is just the icing on the cake. The cable is true plug and play, just run a remote line to the glove box or other available source. I used a fuse tap and ran a small gauge wire to the fuse box. It's out of sight and clean.

Hi Technic - I bought one of the first harnesses that you made and now have an '11 sedan. I understand that the harness will not work as delivered but if I understand what your saying here is that I can make it work if I do what you say above? Also, I don't understand what you mean in the above statement. Can you post or send me a pic with an indication of what you mean by "connect those two wires to the LOC"?

Thanks!
Barry

The LOC has 6 wires: 4 wires for the OEM amp woofer outputs (left and right), 1 wire for 12V and 1 wire for ground. The 12V and ground in the LOC are used to supply its 12V remote turn on signal output. All 6 LOC signals are connected to their respective wires in the 20-pin connector harness. That 20-pin connector is what the OEM amp has.

Because the MY2011 OEM amp does not have 12V or ground in its 20-pin connector as before the LOC will not get those signals when my harness is used. Therefore you will not get a remote turn on signal output from the LOC in this particular application.

However, what can be done is to use the same 12V and ground that the aftermarket amp will use anyways to power the LOC remote signal output. What I can do is not to connect those 2 wires to my harness so they can be extended up to where the aftermarket amp is and make the 12V and ground connections there. That will provide the LOC with its power/ground for the remote turn on.

Still, no OEM wires to cut, splice or tapped.
