It was cold. High 30's. Roads were dry. No clue on the tires. We came from Florida so we only have summer tires. It was a blast.
Sounds good. Thanks.

Not blasting thru canyons on summer tires. Plus the weather gets better as you drive home

We understand. A few people from up there will be coming, not expecting anyone to do anything unsafe heading there. We will post videos that others can see.

We had plenty of fun and everyone was respectable and stayed within their limits. No one was out to set a new Tail record; just have a good time. You'll be fine

I get it, I’m expendable...smh but in all seriousness I know it doesn’t snow up in Boston at that point in November BUT I don’t know how it is with snow and ice in the mid Atlantic or down at the run in the mountains. It would be helpful if anyone along the northern route or living close to the run could chime in on what to expect weather and precipitation wise it would be good. A 900mi tow back to Boston might be out of my price range

I’m sure the run will be fine mostly concerned about the trip up and back. If I have to show up in snow tires the run won’t be as much fun

Asking for a friend...what is the Tail record? Because I will CRUSH that time!

I have rates and rooms available for Tapoco and Fontana. Gonna post up both shortly. And I'm not posting it for anyone to say "I'll take that or this". I'm posting to show you guys what both have. I have to sign a contract with either/both. Looks like there are about 39 rooms available between the two. Kinda mess anyone wanting a room to let me know. If three people are staying then obviously i do not need to sign a contract. The list has 55+ drivers on there. Many are bringing a guest. I'll probably message everyone individually or tag everyone so that get a notification. I am aware that every member doesn't log in every day. So if possible can you guys message members that you may have a phone number for and let them know we are looking to hear from them on the cabin/room situation.

[QUOTE=BOOF-M3;23162773]2nd Annual Tail of Dragon Charity list https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1519982

November 16th 17th 18th 2018

I am in communication with the people at Fontana on getting a block of rooms/cabins. I will be updating this post as I am able to. If you would like to be added to this list, let us know what car you are bringing and how many in your car. It would be cool for those who are posting that they are coming, throw a photo of your car in your post.

The plan will be for people to arrive Friday evening and Saturday morning at the latest. Possibly an early breakfast at the Fontana and hit the Tail around 9am on Saturday morning. Hopefully everyone will be in town and checked in by then.

Cherohala on Sunday. Or perhaps the tail and Cherohala on the same day so that people can head out on Sunday. Once we have the rooms locked up I'll try to get a consensus and go from there.

Our official sponsors are:
FCP Euro

Change of plans: Each member will need to purchase their own shirt. Although Abdul really wanted to pay for the shirts, I felt that his resources could be used better by being an actual sponsor of the run. He is therefore donating one Throttle actuator and a set of Rod bearings to be auctioned off. Still working on the cost for the shirts. Will update as soon as I know. The design however has been settled on and a mock up created.

November in Mid-Atlantic is nice. Daily highs should be in the high 50s. Higher elevations can expect icy roads if it rains.

If you spin out, just sell your car on the spot and walk home. That'll be cheapest option.

We're all expendable

As for the weather, we won't know the likely temperatures, the possible snow fall probability in the mountains of Tennessee/NC, or the rain chances until the week before. So discussing or worrying about it now is pointless.

Plan to go, and then if the weather in Boston or in the Smoky Mountains sucks that weekend, then all bets are off.

And even a little warmer than that in Tennessee, but subtract some when deep in the Smoky Mountains.

The problem will be paying for a room. You can't cancel on a reservation days before without getting hit with a fee.
