Understood...yeah, I guess there have been a few car things I have spent money on that aren't functional...I do appreciate you clarifying though and that's something I need to consider. How often do you open the hood...
It's like this... there was a nice viper at a cars and coffee a few months back. Nice spec, but had a hydro dipped engine brace. Just clowns up the car. Doesn't look good, instantly recognizable as hot garbage. He isn't fooling anyone.

A potential problem being that it's just a cover is warpage. There is no structure to keep its shape. At that price they probably use a less expensive resin that might not fair well with heat either. Add that to the vibrations of the engine and you might have issues keeping it attached, unless you can mechanically fasten it to the stock plenum. But no one would know until someone bites the bullet and tests it out. It could be awesome but either way as others mention it's only cosmetic.

This is basically like the one IND use to sell.... They took a stock intake plenum and painted it for $650, and nobody laughed.....

LOL...yeah, times definitely change, right! Anyhow, I doubt they are just slapping stickers or paint on a stock plenum. I'm still undecided, but I have seen their work on other platforms (E30s). I am 100% confident they don't cheap out on quality. Both the fiberglass (front lip) and CF/Kevlar units (sunroofs) they sell to that crowd were almost overbuilt for strength. I got to see those at an NYST track day. I assume this is the same stuff, just a CF shell that can be affixed over the stock plenum, for looks only. No different than a CF lip, spoiler or mirror caps. I also like the fact that everything they make is built at the shop and any paintwork is outsourced to a local body shop. I'm close enough to where I may just take a 3hr cruise to go check them out in person when the salt clears off the roads...lol

I guess I will update this thread if I decide to pull the trigger. Was just curious if anyone had already done so, but at this point will take that answer as "no"

Well, that was fast...I had messaged the owner a few days ago asking about the cover and using some of the feedback received here for questions about quality, etc.

Was surprised to get a message saying he put together a quick vid to hopefully answer any questions I had. Anyway...I asked if he was OK with me sharing and he said yeah, NP. See below

.
Just a clarification. I have a really loud exhaust, no resonators or anything else in the xpipe. I can still clearly hear the Karbonius.
Intakes are really loud, it isn't just a little more. And the intakes don't remind every cop in the city that someone's getting on it

I don't see anything wrong with it. Some folks want real cf and this is an affordable middle between fake and full plenum replacement or karboProject plenum. I think a lot of people would see this at cars and coffee and go "that's pretty neat!" Not everyone wants to go full replacement.

I do tend to agree. When IND was doing it this was awesome, so it should still be awesome today.

Some things to clarify from the video: CarboProject doesn't require you to send in your plenum to get it converted. It includes an OE core and the core program isn't mandatory.

The vacuum infused process makes this more affordable to manufacture versus the pre-preg dry carbon used by Karbonius, CarboProject & Eventuri, but the finish quality isn't the same, and you get none of the sound benefits that I feel like is what this mod is about.

I can see how this fills a void in the market for those looking to have a carbon look. Good to see more offering for us.
