Won't be able to call until Tuesday likely, can anyone confirm these should be oiled? I have two dirty ones and will clean with soap and water but as I recall they did not come oiled?

Anyone know definitively if the Dinan air filters need to be/should be oiled?
They need to be oiled.

Treat them like a K&N.

I have the same filter on my E93. When I bought the car, it had been installed only a few months prior by the local BMW dealership. When I first checked the filer a few months later, it had been oiled on initial installation. In the past 4 years, I have used the K&N cleaning kit and oil on it regularly without issue. You can run it without oil, it just won’t work as well as when oiled.

I would never use a K&N style filter dry. The oil is required to capture small stuff.

Neither would I, hence me oiling it every time I clean it.

Yes they are oiled from the start. They used Blue oil instead of red. Just buy the K&N cleaning kit and it comes with a small bottle of oil along with a cleaner for $20.

Have gone through three air filters on the car, the one that was on when I bought it and two new Dinan ones. Just cleaned one with the K&N kit and it was DIRTY but came out nice and clean. Thanks for the input.
