Seems like it was doomed from the start if you knew what good dampers feel like. Once you experience what a high end damper does flrnthe way a car responds on the road it's hard to go back.

Would be cool to hear your impressions from some track time

You make an excellent point here. If you want to put your car on the ground with air you have to go very short with the struts which effects suspension travel. I would say a vast majority of air suspension kits are setup this way because that is what the owner wants.

Back to the build

Here is a look at another OEM hole in the trunk that drops into the rear wheel well. Perfect for routing lines.

The most time consuming part of the build was the design of the height sensor mounts. Again, I didn't want to drill into the frame of the car so I came up with brackets that used OEM holes or studs. All the brackets were cut out of sheet steel with a jigsaw and dremel. Not the prettiest pieces but not bad for the tools I had. If I keep the air suspension, I will have some professionally made. Anyone want some trick height sensors for an E92?

I mocked them up in cardboard first

Here are the front and rear height sensor brackets ready for install and coated with black caliper paint.

With height sensors attached.

I think it would be really awesome if Airflit or some other air suspension company could figure out how to hijack the OE height sensor signals from the HID levelers. I feel like this should be possible.
You got any pictures on the location you choose to mount the front sensors ?

The front sensors mount behind the bracket that holds the brake lines. I will see if I have a pic.

I have received a lot of PMs about the brackets I made. Here are some pics of how the brackets work. Front and rear they use existing mounting points. However, higher optioned M3s might be slightly different.

Here is the front bracket before being painted and drilled for the sensor. It just slips behind the brake line holder.

I used a heavy duty clamp in order to connect the sensor arm to the lower front control arm. Long term I would have had a tab welded on.

I have a question you may be able to help me with, how does the air go with the EDC that's factory on the car, I'm considering doing air on my m3 when i purchase it coming up next month, but I can't seem to find any info on air with the EDC (I can't find any non EDC models)

I removed mine. I can't speak for the other manufacturer's, but with Air Lift's set-up, you have 32 levels of damping adjustment which is far superior to the M's "two".
