If you have one -
Do u use it - how often?
Does it rattle?
Does it hang down and take up space in the trunk area?

I used it a bunch in my E92 335. It works great but the only downside would be carwash brutes. I had my local carwash try and force it down instead of pressing the button. Luckily I was watching and made a video of the monkey trying to force it. You can drive with it up and still see through it during the day with tint as well.

Glad u saw the car wash guys before it was too late.

Driving with it up and leaving up when parked outside nice to have on hot days I'm sure.

A worthy option

I use mine every single day. It makes at least two round trips a day. Haven't had a problem of any sort in the year+ I've had the car. No rattles, no hanging. Even when it's not surface-of-the-sun hot here in AZ, I use it to keep the sun from fading the interior.

I read on this forum that the lube is supposed to be lifetime according to BMW, but would love to be better informed if that's not the case.

Gotta get lucky and somehow usher the side brackets while pressing the button to retract it

I had it on my old E92 M3. My answers are:

1. Possibly twice to see what it was and to check it was still there 6 months later :-)
2. Yes (or the back parcel shelf did... small, but annoying rattle)
3. No. Sort of rises up and the struts are jointed (from memory)

Could have lived without it (and did, as I never used it), but then it would have been another blank button on the front console that I'd wonder what the heck it did

We never see the sun in Iowa, so I rarely use mine. I find it makes the rear window harder to see out - but like I said, we never see the sun up here.

Doesn't rattle, doesn' stuck, very rately used. One of the easiest options to live without.

I used to have it up 24/7 but now only use it when parked under the sun. I like having it, definitely don’t need it but a cool option to have.

I keep mine up the entire summer, as well as using a sunshade in the front windshield. Seems to do a pretty good job.

I think it is a useless feature and adds weight to the car that is not needed

Less money spent on sunscreen=more gas money.

Agree - I like it on the coupe and think I'd use it.

On the 4door E90M did the rear shade come with the extra manual shades on the side doors?

Yes E90 comes with the side shades. Makes more sense on the sedan if you’re using the back seats for kids.

Got it thanks - I've seen those on F80 but never noticed on the E90.

Used mine 3x to check it out when I got the car two years ago... it's been stuck up ever since and I haven't cared enough to try and figure it out. I can see fine with it up and at night driving it cuts down on being blinded by anything that sits higher than a sedan... which is basically every car on the road anymore. If mine went up and down I'd probably keep it up anyway.
