S55 powered cars and N54 onwards have direct injection which allows for more precision. I think the post also said there's a possibility of it heating up the intake valves / manifold / etc. The intake stroke comes immediately after exhaust stroke and I could imagine the possibility of a port injection system still having fuel on the intake valves. fwiw most dynos show only torque gains at every part of the rev range after going catless. |

Has the burble been updated recently? I like it but the amount of burbling is just too much for my taste, not a fan of popcorn at 5k. Is there a way to make it more subtle or consistent when you let off the throttle?
Looking for this: |

Can someone help this noob out on the motor tune instructions? I'm antsy and figure this may be quicker than asking Alex. I have the cables, USBs, software installed on my computer, etc., and the tune file that he emailed me. What's the process? Feel like I missed the instructions memo.

Get up past 6k, I believe I went up to 7k in the video, popcorn burbles on decel immediately and when you get to 5k tap the gas and you got flames.
I'm fully catless btw.

Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 1. Make sure laptop is fully charged or connected to power. 2. Connect the tuning cable to the laptop 3. Install AMS.exe 4. Open AMS program after install. 5. Make sure vehicle has recently been driven/battery has a good charge or connected to a charger. 6. Turn off climate control system and any lights you can. 6. Connect cable to vehicle, click start/stop button until the fuel gauge shows a read/is up. Plug the driver seat belt in. 7. Read all the prompts on the program and click next. You will need to code the cable to the vehicle when prompted, this locks the cable to the cars vin. 8. You can select to "Read ECU memory" and select full if you wish to back up the cars data, it is suggested to either have a charger connected or have the motor running when you are doing a read from the car as it takes up to 45minutes (*DO NOT ever have the motor running if you are writing to the vehicle "Program ECU memory") 9. Select "Program ECU Memory" and select the file with either Original or Flash First, this will update your car to the latest version. 10.When programming is FINISHED it will ask for you to turn off the ignition, (ignition is off when the fuel gauge is down) turn off ignition click "IGNITION IS OFF" on screen. 11.Once programming is complete turn ignition back on (fuel gauge up.) 12.Click "Program ECU Memory" and select your desired tuned file. 13.When programming is FINISHED it will ask for you to turn off the ignition, (ignition is off when the fuel gauge is down) turn off ignition click "IGNITION IS OFF" on screen 14. Ignition on, go to "Diagnostics" and "Clear Trouble Codes" + "Clear Adaption Data" 15.Turn on motor (running) count to five (5 seconds) and shut the motor down. Do this twice. Done.

Curious if you can set up, for launch control, or at rev limiter limit, back fire similar to 2 step sound? Or would that only work with FI?

You can retrofit the switch cluster that would give you servotronics steering and MDM. You can find the switch cluster used cheap. |

Just installed Alex's E9X M3 Full Motor Tune this evening!
Opted for 93 Octane Stage 2, Top Speed Limiter Removal, and Cold Start Delete (which I will be re-flashing back the cold start as I love to wake up to the roar of a catless S65.) All in all, Alex is super prompt with his responses and making sure his customers are satisfied. Just came back from a test drive and I'm thoroughly impressed with the tune. The car just pulls like a freight train from 4K RPM all the way to redline and driving around town is a lot smoother now after the install. Smoothness and power will likely increase over the next week as adaptations re-learn. Would highly recommended reaching out to Alex@Alpine if you are interested in a quality tune for your E9X M3, as well as the quality customer service Alex is willing to provide. A+! |
