New 10w-60 options? Have you heard of these?

Have not heard about these before. Bizol is supposed to be a green motor oil which is enough for me to stay away! I recently switched from BMW to Red Line. Only difference I’ve noticed is the Red Line comes up to operating temp a tad quicker than BMW.

...still a proponent for Liqui Moly Race Tech GT1 w/Cera Tec at appropriate intervals

With a 12yo engine...IMO, seems risky to experiment with critical engine products.

I'm quite happy overall making the switch to Red Line as well (from LiquiMoly)!

The Bizol also looks more like a motorcycle oil and doesn't have the certifications for our engines. That's a no-go for me.

Be careful with Redline, their 10w60 is thicker than any other 10w60 oil. I ran it once and drained it shortly.

I usually run BMW 10W60, both the Castrol and the Shell versions. I ran Liqui Moly, it's also ok but I prefer OEM.

After 15 years of ownership, I've done a lot of oil changes...

True. However, Red Line 15W50 flows better cold and has higher shear strength than OEM 10W60.

I haven’t heard of those. I tried Redline 5w50 and switched back to Liquimoly 10w60 on the next change. The redline used a slight amount of oil and ran hotter on my supercharged engine.

15w50 may be ok, the Redline 10w60 is the one I had issues with. It was thick like a gel and the car felt sluggish. I drained it after a few hundred miles.

I have also run 0w40 on my engine. It was fine for every day driving and some track days. Car revs faster and engine feels more lively on the thinner oil. Oil consumption does go up. I did it to help rod bearing wear. Oil analysis came back good with 0w40. I stopped 0w40 after I had the rod bearings replaced with BE bearings.

On BMW 10w60, the car feels great, no oil consumption between oil changes.

lol…kiloliters, now that’s a lot of oil! Roughly 110 e9X M3 oil changes with a ~900 mile OCI

I get better peace of mind with that thickness and oil film since I do some spirited driving often. I've compared the technical specs of the oils and I feel good about it. I have BE bearings in so it shouldn't be a problem as opposed to the "tighter" OEM bearings.

This is my first run with the Red Line and I haven't noticed anything detrimental, my MPG hasn't taken a hit, and I'm noticing reduced oil consumption. I do oil analysis on every oil change, so we'll see what it ends up settling into.
