paragon bbk?

Tried searching this forum but didn't get too many hits on Paragon stuff. Forum member turned me on to them and has been super happy. I'm possibly picking up an E90 for mostly track duty and starting to plan out what it'll need.

They're claiming that it'll work with stock rears, which is a plus at the moment. Any experience with these guys?

it actually looks like a nice kit. high cooling vane count on the rotor is good and the caliper doesn't look bigger than it needs to be.

The Honda crowd loves them. I was just buying OEM replacement rotors and had a really hard time deciding between Girodisc and Paragon. There's probably very little performance difference but one of them the Porsche GT crowd swears by, and one the Honda crowd swears by so... Porsche crowd won.

Also interested - a guy last weekend at CW won the B3 Bimmer Challenge using them (maybe the same guy OP is talking about).

Looks like they do group-buys for the Honda crowd. Maybe they'd do it for this forum?

Please do! And let me know what you find.

I'm currently looking for a BBK - stoptech availability for replacement parts looks so-so, and the AP/BW Alcon sets are nearly $6k. They're great I'm sure but it's a hard pill to swallow.

Anyone know what pad shape/thickness they use? Looks like the standard Alcon/AP/Others?

Problem I've found is the 18mm pads in that shape are actually harder to come by than the 25mm versions. Very interesting kit though, front and rear is cheaper than just front from AP or [Bimmerworld] Alcon.

Also super interesting Paragon has an Alcon kit for the same price as their branded offering...

re: the Alcon kit, it looks like the street version. Low temp dust seals etc.

The caliper looks like its a copy of the original AP racing kit. Little differences here and there but overall shape and design look the same.

i wouldn't be surprised, as the "AP BBK" these guys sell where also questionable.. but looks like they removed the AP offering from there website. most likely rebranded to their name now.

edit: correction it was just the rotors. thanks @derbo. they never sold the calipers.

they offered a group buy (15% off if we get to 10, 20% if 20). I'll get all the details together and put it up in a separate thread.

FWIW,

Honda research race team uses a paragon BBK during the 25hr thunderhill race. I have a mindset, if it is good enough for the endurance race team, it's probably more than enough for me as well.
