almost 3k miles since I've had my rod bearings done by Ian, after my 2nd oil change after like 2500 miles, feels like the engine's much better as fas as throttle feel and sound, feels smooth, been using Liqui Moly for the past 12k miles

Did anyone go up to Racing Greed in Canada to do the rod bearings? Their price seems worth the drive.

I'm checking out G2 Motorsports https://www.g2motorsports.com/ who seem to have a pretty good reputation. They even have a page dedicated to Rod Bearing replacement for the S65 engines https://www.g2motorsports.com/rod-be...ement-seattle/

I'll report back once I get a quote tomorrow. Asking for a quote with parts and without parts.

Wow...I could deliver my car to somewhere in Cali and back + rod bearings for that price...let alone drive down.

And then a few extra hours + tax and they'll have you at almost $7k for rod bearings.

"A rod bearing replacement service is not cheap, BUT it’s 10X’s less expensive than replacing your entire S54, S65 or S85 engine."

I'm about to do my bearings and I received a quote from a shop here in town for $8300. Yes, you read that right. They also said that they have to pull the motor and redo the head gasket. This was based off me asking them over the phone for a quote, they never saw my car. It feels like I said M3 and all they heard was "payday".

I'm in Spokane and I'll leave the shop's name out of it for now.
Here's a screen shot of their quote:

This quote is absurd, and that's putting it nicely. How are they even in business with quotes like that?

I wonder what their labor rate is. Should be pretty cheap in Spokane. We can get $125 at a good shop nearish Seattle, which would be almost 40 hours to meet the quoted labor for this shop.

They said it was 40 hours for the whole job. 31 of those hours was to pull the motor and do the rod bearings. I guess it takes 9 hours to do head gaskets on a S65?

BMW quoted me $2300 for the Rod Bearing job. They said book is 8.8 hours to do the rod bearings and the motor doesn't need to come out. I asked if they pulled the motor and did it, they said 15 hours.

Not that it makes it any better, but of the 5 shops I called here in town, I got a quote from BMW and the shop we're talking about. No one else has returned my call or emailed me.

I assume it’s one of the 2 main German auto shops? I’m at 95k and have been thinking about it, but I’m getting my shop built then a lift and will do them my self.😳

I don't know how many of those shops are in the area, but you're probably right.

Funny thing, we're both in Colbert. We probably live down the road from each other and don't know it.

I'll be doing the bearings my self. I have a Quick Jack lift, not a full lift like you are describing. A guy with a set of Jack Stands could do this job, but getting the car all the way up in the air will be easier to work on.
