First new car?

What was your first new car and why did you choose it?

Mine was a 1994 VW Golf. 4 door, blue, sunroof, 5 speed MT, no air or power windows. I grew up riding in Vdubs, my family had various bugs and rabbits.

2004 Infiniti G35 Coupe 6MT. I just wanted it so when I got my first bonus check I ordered one up. I sold it about 6 months later, setting off a cycle of rapid car puchases and sales that has yet to conclude.

Nice. I really wanted a G35 when I was in HS. Even ordered one but ended up backing out.

Mine was a 1994 S420; had it for about 3 months before I realized I didn't like big cars.... so I went and leased a new 2005 C230 Kompressor. That was one fun car

I'll never buy a brand new car again. I'll let somebody else eat the depreciation first. The car is pushing 40k miles and I can't even get what I owe out of it.

Well, the first I drove was this truck, it was my dad's and let me use it, this is not ours in the picture, but damn close in color after I worked on and restored it when I was 16. I still have it by the way and it is a project vehicle for my son and I now.

Bought this as my daily driver for $250 when I worked on the above. This look very close to what mine looks like, i had silver strips down the side.

When the above was total when a college kid came home after partying too much and hit it parked outside my GF house at the time. I then went out and bought this, mine was black.:

The above got me through college and sold it for the same price I paid for it which was $250.

After college I had some real money since I had a real job so I bought this new car, which end up being the wife's car, once we drove it to California for my job.

Because this was the wife's car I went out and bought this while in CA. It was this color when I bought it, but it was a really bad Macco Paint job and the pain was chipping of so I completely re did the car and painted it white.

I personally did not have a new car until I bought my 335I in 2006, all the other new cars went to the wife since she refuse to fix cars on the side of the road so I always drove the fixer uppers.

2000 Ford SVT Contour was my first 'new' car.

Back in the day, it was constantly compared to the BMW (325i). Since my salary at the time couldn't afford a BMW, this is what I got.

To this day, one of my favorite cars I've owned.

EDIT: I've also wanted a G35 for a long time, they sure look sweet...but after owning a POS MazdaSpeed6...I vowed never to own a Japanese car again.

I have technically never purchased a new car. Closest I have been to a brand new car is my 1M that I purchased with 2900 miles back in february. I bought it for a flurry of reasons, mainly because I have always loved M cars and this one is a quite unique. After being hesitant to order one new, and subsequently not being able to find an allocation I had resigned to searching for a used e90 M3. Luckily this one popped up locally and after driving it, I knew I couldn't let this one slip by.

I'm pretty sure the OP is asking for "new" cars as in vehicles purchased with delivery miles only and not "new-to-you" (no used cars that are new to you). It's an interesting thread and much different from the "what did you drive before the BMW" threads that we already have dozens of.

You drove 40k miles in 2 years? If so, pretty sure thats why you can't get what you owe.

My first new car was a 2003 WRX which is also still sitting in my garage, though I still do drive it.

first "new" car was a 1997 Cavalier in 1998.

does that count - or does new mean that it has to have less than 20 or 30 miles when you bought it ??

I know that. I'm talking about the "just drove a brand new car off the lot" depreciation. That's a bitch
