Got a Borla so when i take it to 4k, there is JUST NO better symphony of sounds anywhere in the galaxy. That V8 is simply MAH-VELOUS! When i rev it, even my 16 year old boys say " OMG!".. and yes I have a 6 MT

Last weekend, took her to Oakland, hwy 880, 6th gear, 110 Mph, at 3500 rpm, ,,,,sooooo smoooothhh!!...

and here is the kicker: I have had the car for 2 months ( bought it at 78k miles) and i have NEVER redlined it, EVER!......Highest i think was 4 K ..
One of these days, I MAY take it to 5k and then maybe 6k by Fall 2019...LOL

I hit redline every time I drive the car, too tame of a car if you don't drive it hard. I'd love to see redline count on everyone's car, I'm at 120,000 miles and 680 redlines. (You can check redline count with a certain software)

No, not a challenge for me! For one of the young ones on the thread! I've had my fair share of runnin's with the law! Although 80 Reno west at 2 am is good for top speed tests.. so I hear

Correct but you'd be surprised, all the higher redline count cars I've scanned have all been manual cars

Just hit redline on the way home tonight... it was nothing short of GLORIOUS. The adrenaline it gives you climbing up the RPMS is addicting...

Road trips make you tired? Take your M next time and when you're falling asleep shift it down a few gears and open up the butterflies. It's scientifically proven it's equivalent of 100 scoops of pre workout... so they say...

Wow. There is a huge torque dip from 4-5k, making this the least responsive area of tachometer, which is greatly exacerbated by the 6MT's long/wide ratios.

Sounds to me (no pun) that you equate "sound" with acceleration.

Try stepping on the gas at 6k and report back

I drive my LCI E92 M3 like I literally stole it on weekends and <10 MPG is basically a close cousin to me
Today I was pushing the car hard after entering the freeway and ripped it to redline in 3rd gear until it basically fuel cut for a little bit, but then shifted and before I knew it I was hitting 120MPH+ like water

Idk if my terminology is wrong, but some people say they "hit redline" by either shifting prior to 8.4k on the red band,

but it's a different thing when you actually "hit redline to fuel cut" when the engine violently cuts power

there's not a day that goes by that I don't feel like going above 6,000 RPM Stresses the engine and hitting redlining is eventually going to speed up the wear on the bearings.
If anyone can help answer this crucial question to redline + oil weight + tight bearing clearance and whether it will lead to fucked bearings

5k rpms daily?

how about 8600 daily...

I don't baby this car ( besides washing it a lot and it's many trips to the car spa aka my detailer). This car is meant to be driven. Hard. If I get a chance, clear traffic , I smash that throttle on the on ramp to the interstate and let it sing at least through 3rd and 4th.

Drive a E91 330xd or i3 for daily use. The M3 is bangend every time when I use it! Oil higher then 90°C -> Drive it, like you stole it! Especially because I live close to the alps...

I seriously wouldn't own this car if I couldn't get it over 5K at least once every time I drove it. The car is far from bad at low RPMs, but it's also nothing special. The upper revs are the raison d'etre. I don't daily drive my car, but for sure I wring it out every time I do drive it.
