Arrow Question about material

Does anyone know why only the front fenders are made of some kind of plastic/compound? Or Am I wrong.

They should have used the same material for the doors. It would prevent dents and save some weight.

That’s what I thought, but why only the fenders. They could have save some more weight with the doors and trunk lid.

Just a thought.

Then it'd be a Saturn

I agree things like crumple zones and crash safety could be main factor
But also reducing the weight of the fenders in front especially will lower some weight as the car is obviously more front end heavy
Therefore lowering the smaller portions of the front to save weight will place the M3 closer to the 50/50 weight bias which is BMW's goal with the cars balance
