Too Risky?

I've come across a two owner 2013 M3 ZCP with 70k on the clock for $20k. I spoke with current owner and he has done regular maintenance and the carfax somewhat backs that. Here are the things holding me back from pulling the trigger.

-First owner wrecked it 4 times during it's first year and put 13k miles on it before selling/tradein. I'm waiting to hear back from the body shop to see what the extent of the damage was.

-I ran a VINinspect on it and there is a notation of it being offered at an auction with "Frame Damage" as it's primary damage. Yet that same listing says Doc Type: Clean title. The Carfax also shows a clean title. Owner has a clean title in his possession. I also checked autoauctions.io and see no auction history for the VIN. Is this a possible mistake?

- TBA or Rod Bearings not done

-Front and rear bumper will need a respray (Chipping/pealing). Probably from poor quality of previous paint work.

Other than that...the vehicle seems fine. I'm waiting to get the PPI report back. Hopefully will show some insight into possible frame damage or not. Should I steer clear?

A car with 4 accidents... that sounds like a lot. I would steer clear of it.

And as someone who has bought a car with a bad paintjob, never do it. It'll cost you a crapton of money to fix.

I wouldn't expect any car to have rod bearings done. Make sure to get them done sooner rather than later.
The throttle bodies are not in the same list. They do not cause catastrophic failure. Even when faulty the car continues to drive.

pretty hard to imagine 4 accidents in 1 year... either really bad driver or really bad luck.
either way, i'd stay away from it for that reason alone if it were me...

I was actually wrong...5 accidents. Out of curiosity I pulled the accident reports (Miami PD). It looks like the parents bought their 16-17 year old kid a brand new M3 back then. What could go wrong...lol. Accidents #2 and #3 were actually on the SAME DAY.

#1 Vehicle pulled in front of him. Front airbag deployed
#2 Improper lane change and struck other vehicle on rear quarter panel. No airbag
#3 Someone pulled in front him making a left hand turn into oncoming traffic
#4 Struck a dog and fled the scene. Parked it at the high school and witnesses followed him there
#5 Rear ended someone. No airbag

Yeah. I'm kind of bummed. a 2013 at $20k and I would've been able to pay cash and have a vehicle to start working on with my 9 year old son. So a few things being wrong with it don't bother me. I don't plan to ever get rid of it, once I find one. Hell I still have a 2003 Honda civic in the driveway that gets driven periodically. So if the civic hasn't made it on the chopping block, I doubt a v8 M3 ever would. I don't want something that's a ticking time bomb either. I'm just tired of looking.

13k miles with a 16-17 year old driving is probably more like 40k worth of mileage on that car. I would think $15k would be fair-ish if PPI turns out promising. You don't have to worry about getting your money back or holding value if you plan on keeping it forever.

I would ask for even less than $20K. No RB or TBA plus potential body damage. Otherwise I'd walk away from it...rather pay more for peace of mind

I'm always looking for my next great M3...that said; pass on a car w/ ANY accidents, let alone 5 lol.

Could be a good "fixer-upper", but Frame damage sounds worrying to me.

At this age and price range, there will have been a fender-bender with most cars - but five is a little bit too much imho - even for "as little as" 20k

Just to risky and that many accidents ... no way they were all minor ...

A bumper respray isn't that costly. Under 1k but there just to many flags you will run across something better.
