Idea Needed
Looking for ideas on two personalized license plates for insurance purposes.
Background: Since picking up a daily driver recently I now have two weekend cars, the e92 and a heavily modded celica. I always wanted sequential plates for my cars and a year and half ago I came close and got two regular plates 182MKW and 281MKW. However I don’t drive all 3 cars at the same time and insuring all 3 cars for full year would cost me around $6000 total. Where I live it is cheaper to insure the car for the full year than 3 months at a time (3 months is the minimum duration to get a plate on the car.). To save some money it will be cheaper to insure the car for the full year, and then cancel when I’m not driving it and get a refund, ie cancel in the winter. However to cancel insurance I’ll need to surrender the plates and get new plates when put the car back on the road. So far I’ve been insuring the celica and the m3 three months at a time and get storage coverage when insurance runs out. This way I get to keep the plates and don’t have update parking passes, pay by phone parking apps and etc. The only way to be able to cancel insurance and switch to storage insurance and keep my plates is to buy the plate outright. If I am going to do that, then I might as well get personalize plate, which doesn’t cost that much more. Therefore, I’m open to ideas on what to get. So far options are: Toy 1 and Toy 2, or Thing 1 and Thing 2. Let me know what you guys can think of. But keep it clean and keep it fun, and plates must be matching or sequential. Maximum 7 characters and not too keen on getting plates like E92 S65 or V8 E92 or 2ZZ-GE (celica engine code)... don’t want anything that makes fun of cars either. |

Let the games begin. These are always fun threads and usually keep going until the OP has found his/her answer.
My suggestions: BOOFMAX : BOOFMUS Actually it looks like this will be a short thread, I think we have a winner. You can thank me later. |

I’m gonna do my last name for my plate since it’s a rare last name. Check the ICBC blacklist first. They have a lot of stuff banned, anything that relates to street racing can be denied |

That's weird that you have to surrender plates in BC.
We don't have that problem in ON.

The policy is still in place with fire and theft. I would hate having to surrender my plate each year.

Wait, I read you're allowed to keep the front plate? Ive met a few people who got to keep one of the plates.

Yep, that is true because all ICBC need is the back plate with the insurance sticker. The intent is so people can’t buy a full year of insurance and then cancel, but keep driving around with valid sticker even though they don’t have coverage.

Only if they let you take off the sticker in front of an insurance agent and keep the plates and just pay for the rights to own

Yes I can get just storage coverage, but I would need to surrender my plates which is something I don't want to do. Just too much hassle having to keep switching plates because I have my work parking pass, toll pass, pay by phone parking app...and etc all need to be changed when I switch plates. Plus I was matching or sequential plates for my two weekend cars lol.

If you let your insurance run out then yeah you can keep your plate. Hence why I’ve been buying insurance coverage 3 months at a time. However like I said, it is cheaper to buy it for a full year instead of 3 months at a time. The only issue for me is once I buy a full year there is no way to cancel the coverage early without surrendering the plate. ICBC just won’t let you keep your plate if you have an active sticker on, which is why you can keep the plate if you let your insurance run out but not if you cancel early.
