Picked up the last one, and BMW isn't making anymore

I've been hemming and hawing about picking this up for the past year or so, and have periodically hit up Gilbert @ McKenna about it. A couple months ago, I finally decided to bite, b/c I know that with the F30 rolling out, it wasn't going to be long before BMW stopped making accessories for the E9X. Sure enough, when I hit up Gilbert, he said that this was the last one that BMW showed in their system.....period. It got kinda hairy there for a bit, as BMW didn't seem to want to let it go. After 6 weeks of him doing his thing, he notified me that it'll arrive sometime this week. HUGE box (literally 5x the size of the item inside) arrived today.

I have a little project that will be centered around this item. Stay tuned over the next 2 months or so.

I was close to getting one but from all the comments I read online, it seems as though the pull out tray consumes too much trunk space to make it worth installing. What do you plan to do with it?

I think its intended to be a storage tray for things like the owner's manual, etc. to keep the trunk clean.

Wouldn't this limit what you can fit in the trunk height wise?

It attaches (rather securely, I might add) via sets of hooks that slide into pre-cut slots in the back of the trunk, and 2 thumb screws in the front. If you need more room, uninstallation takes all of 10 seconds, literally. Besides, I have a truck that will swallow a washer w/out blinking (enclosed, I might add), so I'm not overly concerned about trunk space. As long as I can fit luggage in there comfortably, and I can, I'm fine.

Yeah, it has for awhile now. Unfortunately, the price is kinda *meh* so a lot of people don't bite. McKenna offers a pretty good discount on parts, so I didn't pay a whole hell of a lot for it. And yeah, like you, most people don't know it exists. There was also a lot of misinformation in that it was marketed for the E90 only, but the coupe has the same cutouts in the truck that allow for E92 fitment, as well.

Does the drawer block the light for the trunk area?

Aside from that potential limitation, it's an interesting accessory that I never knew existed.

Nopers, the unit is designed so that the grab handle opening is quite large and allows the trunk light to shine through.

I have this in my m3 saw well. It does reduce the height a lot. I could not get our bugaboo bee stroller in their so ended up buying an umbrella stroller to fit in.

It is convenient to hold my cleaning supplies and tools but the rubberized coating does come off when items hit it.

Gilbert @ McKenna hooked it up for $264 + $30 shipping. There's some guy selling a couple on eBay for $390something. I'll see if I can find the auction again.

Edit: here it is. Last one I know of that is being sold. $380.44 shipped. www.ebay.com/itm/261370012265

Is this a sedan only item?

If not, what were the part numbers of all pieces required for this mod?
