Not unless you need to flash the car or read/clear fault codes

I tried to do this update but encountered some problems. The BPMCode utilitu does not complete and indicates that it was unable to configure the cable. After pressing a key, the window closes. Also, the BPMFlash application is unable to perform the internet update. The light on the dongle kept flashing green but slowly, I think. FYI, running on Windows 7.

Anyone know what the issue may be?

Sounds like no problem. Connect to car. If the light is blinking slowly then the cables already configured.

Internet update is not needed, it's already the latest version.

Hey Mike -

Per the email I just sent you, I am trying to update my 2014 K+DCAN USB interface cable to the ver7.6 software on my HP Spectre X360 laptop with 64-bit/x64 i5 processor and Windows 10 installed.


I completed the Windows 10 disabling of the driver signature enforcement with no problems...but when I plug the cable into my laptop, I get no flashing green light. This laptop only has one USB3.0 slot.
Of course, I get a cable not found alert when I try to install the BpmFlash file.


Any suggestions?

Hello,

If there is no flashing light, then it's likely that the cable portion from the computer to the OBD dongle itself is defective. It should flash when plugged in, regardless of driver installation.

Try using another mini usb cable from another device you might have, such as a camera, etc.. if that doesn't work, try using a USB port on another computer.
