I came across a 2012 CIC head unit out of a 328 xi. I own a '08 M3. From what I understand this device will install into my vehicle but the unit will need to be coded to ensure I do not lose M-drive and other M specific features, correct?

Regardless of M or not, I think you need to code it anyway for it to work and an emulator?

Basic coding will make it your M3 CIC but no navigation or voice control will be enabled.

Not just navi but voice, apps, satellite, or anything the original car had activated.

You'll need an emulator to have NAV at all since the VIN check will not pass.
