Local BMW dealership did the work. I kept the same gearing and I'm having the ring and pinion polished.

So is the conclusion that there was something wrong with the diff and that the delrin mounts just magnified the sound caused by the dysfunction such that you just now noticed it?

That's the story. We'll see what happens when the new diff goes in. Should get here in about a week and a half.

I have mine being installed as we speak...For me, my biggest complaint is when you intentionally slide the car on the street, the rear end wants to hop. I am really hoping these fix this, among the other listed benefits.

For anyone that is even slightly aggressive with the car I recommend getting the rear diff mounts replaced with derlin or better. After snapping two bolts from the play in the stock squishy mounts when I switched over to derlin the hole was egg shaped and had to be put back into shape. That's how much play you get with stock mounts.
Do get a bit of a whine but car feels MUCH better and its a small trade off to keep your rear diff in place.. Should of never been put out stock with such squishy bushings

I opted for the ring and pinion polishing so that adds at least 7 days to the build. Should ship out early this week.

Differential comes in Friday. Installed Saturday. Hopefully all goes well and I'll finally get to review the subframe and diff bushings.

And they broke the mounting bolt inside the mount. New bolt comes in tomorrow. For the love of God.

Finally got the car back. The car feels more planted than ever. I feel like control of the car is up by about 25%. I've only driven about 10 miles on it so far. I'll post additional feedback once I get a little more driving in. The NVH is definitely noticeable and a lot louder than I thought it would be. You don't really notice it with the radio on at a normal level and you can't hear it at all with the windows open. Radio off and windows closed; definitely. As stated in a previous post, if this is your daily driver I'd probably go with just the subframe bushings.
