lmao i am glad i am not the only one. i love your combo as your M3 as your DD and the GT3 for everything else, i would have it the same way if i could congrats
i agree the R8 V10 in a RWD would make me like it so much more after i sold my E46 M3 i had a E39 M5, and i missed my M3 even though the M5 was great car. when i started shopping i orig thought there was alot of options out there for what i wanted, a RWD manual, high revving NA engine car. turns out there wasn't many options at all lol. i drove a friends E92 M3 and fell in love with it. drove a DCT one too. while it is wicked quick i just prefer a true man. so i found the car i have now the exact color combo i wanted and all the options. i really love it and it does everything well. i have some mods on it and it made it that much better. i can only imagine how awesome the SC is on yours. but... man that GT3 is so sweet. i think by the time i would get rid of my M3 i could maybe swing the 997.2 version which is really the one i like best anyway. it does suck though BMW is not doing the NA M cars anymore thanks alot for the feedback Quote:

The pre 2009 C2s, C4s, aka regular 911s have a wet sump (integrated dry sump in Porsche speak) which does not have any RMS issues. Of course these are street engines not a true dry sump racing derived engine as the GT1. The 2009 to date 911s have the 9A1 engine which is much better than its predecessor however not a true dry sump and not up to the GT1's standards. |

H Bomb, I was also looking into a used 997.2 GT3 in the next year or so. It was always a dream of mine to own and drive a GT3 of my own. ^^That is used for the 997.2 GT3 right?^^ All I could say is wow! That's a very big difference in price for sure. Is that price after a year for the 997.2 GT3? That's still very expensive for me. I would have to wait for 2 years or even 3 before getting a used 997.2 GT3 then. I know there are some low-mileage 997.1 GT3's out there that go up to 90K. However, there are some 997.1 GT3's that are still in good condition that sell for $70K. I'm really leaning towards a used 997.2 GT3 now after reading your review. That's a nice GT3 you have there man. My fav color as well! JMD0977, I was also looking into a used 997.1 TT 6 speed, but after reading your review on the 997.2 GT3 really makes it seems like it is worth it to get a used 997.2 GT3 instead of a used 997.1 TT 6 speed (Even though it's modified). |

This is a dyno of a 997.1 GT3 with Sharkwerks track exhaust, BMC intake filter, Evoms software tuned for E85 gas (394whp/295wtq SAE on a dynojet).Baseline has the sharwerks exhaust. COmpletely stock would have been about 365whp SAE:
This is my 997.2 GT3 with Akrapovic race exhaust, BMC filter, Evoms software tuned for E85 gas (423whp/311wtq SAE on the same dynojet) Baseline in completely stock: Thats about the max hp increase that can be obtained out of either gen, short of doing a 3.9/4.0 conversion... Some more could be squeezed out with a better intake box. Keep in mind the max gains on either dyno above, are running E85 gas, which is the same as a 100/105 octane gas. Compared to a GTR (stock Vs stock): A stock 997.2 GT3 does 0-200 kn in 12.3 and 1/4 in 11.8 A stock GTR does 0-200 km 12.2 and 1/4 in 11.5 Last edited by JMD0977; 10-12-2010 at 10:39 AM.. |

Ive just got back from the Ring where i took the M3 for the first time, the car was amazing, and really overperformed in my opinion, it left everyting in its wake.... EXCEPT GT3s.... these seemed to be able to pass at insane speeds...
I want one badly now...

My 423whp SAE run above, was 433 STD, and probably 445whp uncorrected on a Dynojet. Also, in dynos like Mustang dynos, Dynodynamic, dynapacks, its esay for the dyno operator to manipulate runs, since he himself has to put in or not put in correction factors, unlike dynojets in which they are already pre-set and cannot be manipulated. So no, that is not a real 386whp SAE mustang dyno run... However, GT3's do have and incredibly low powertrain loss. About 10-12% only (factory claim). And its confirmed when stock 997.2 GT3's put down 396-400whp SAE and the claimed crank is 435hp. All GT3's engines are hot dyno'ed at the factory, to ensure they put down 100-105% of the claimed power. Last edited by JMD0977; 10-12-2010 at 03:44 PM.. Reason: misspelling, typed too fast... |

DD GT3 RD, devo, JMD0977,
Damn, you guys have 3 of my favorite colors for a sports car. Grey, white, and black. You guys should start a porsche GT3 group here in our forum or something. 997.2 GT3 is definitely worth the wait getting used. Thanks for all the input guys! |

+1 input has been great, till now i didn't think there was that much difference in the .1 and .2 but just from this thread i have made up my mind if and when i get one it will be the .2 even if it means waiting an extra year or so
i also like the GT3 better then the RS, i know the RS is more sought after etc but i prefer the more suttle look to the GT3 without all the stickers etc on it and that is easier street driving but you still get the race car feel very sweet car, and if i was to go to a 2 seater only i can't think of any other car. if i didn't race and need a truck and race bike and all the practice bikes etc i would do the same setup as DD and have the M3 as a DD and the GT3 for sport Quote:

GT3 is definitely looks cleaner without the stickers. I also want that low-profile look. RS is just too much for me. I don't even go to the track that often. There's no better 2 seater car that I can think of that handles like a rail out of the box that could keep up with a lot of supercars. There's the Lotus Exige S260, but it's just too small of a vehicle for my taste. |

E92M3 - not sure if you have driven the Lotus you mentioned. About 2 years ago my gf and mom rented me the Lotus Elise for the day. That is still my favorite car to drive. I need to rent one again to refresh my memory. But possibly if i had room for 2 cars...I might get a reg car to DD and buy an Exige. I think it is the only car that is closer to a race car than the GT3, and the only car with better steering (best i ever felt, so much feedback, no power steering). Although I might miss my GT3 then. so maybe GT3 and Lotus Exige!!!!

After reading this thread went to local Porsche dealer and was able to test drive a 2010 GT3. Amazing car. Asking price was $130,000 - car has 5000 miles.
Any thoughts on driving dynamics of the turbo vrs the GT3 - esp on the track. I'm old and love my DCT and feel reluctant to try to learn heel toe at this point in my life.
