Not in the previous episodes..I do realize he says that in the latest ones but I just keep remembering the C63AMG vs. Audi RS vs. the M3, where he mentions M3 drivers have no friends.

For some reason I always got the impression he didn't like em..then again I don't watch TopGear enough

Either way I don't buy a car on his advice.

loved the 359's, so I got the ZCP... that was all - if the only option was still the 220's, I would have stuck with 18's

What I don't like about the ZCP is the lower ride. As a DD, its easy to be scratching your nose even with the non-ZCP.

That's a sweet alternative +1

This is actually true, I have lightly scrapped the bottom cover once (not the bumper). Since then I pay closer attention and set EDC to Sport or Sport Plus mode before going over a steep driveway, etc.

If you read the supplimental manual, BMW recommends setting the EDC to Sport mode if you are going over any obsticles or curbs this way the suspension has less bounce. Here's a quote from the manual:

Quote:
Clearance
Mind the limited clearance of the BMW
M3, e.g. when driving into underground
parking garages or over obstacles. If equipped
with EDC, select the "Sport" program, refer to
page 39, when driving off curbs to keep clearance
as even as possible. Otherwise, the vehicle
may be damaged.

Why don't BMW make the 359s a stand alone option?
I want the 359s but don't want EDC...

He says all kinda things about the M3 during that episode, to make it a show. At the end of the filming, he says M3 is the best in the pack (and the others are just trying to be as good), but for the insanity of the engine, he'd get C63.

Also when they reviewed IS-F they compared it with E90 M3. In that episode he said "you're cock if you don't buy an M3".

The thing with Porsches, he does not like them (because of the engine placement, and he has a point) but he acknowledges them.

I opted for no ZCP.

because I knew I would be putting on aftermarket coils and wheels.

For those that have ZCP or those who have looked and thought about ZCP, did you notice that most of the drop (10mm) is in the front?
The rears looks identical in height (without a measuring tape) at the dealer between a non-ZCP vs a ZCP car...

I think it if it were my money i'd go with the standard car and mod it up myself. But if I was going to keep it stock i'd go for it for sure.

Could not agree more, the front of my previous ride was 4 inches off the ground, but the ZCP seems to be even less. From my limited experience thus far, even if you clear the front, the differential heat sink is still just as close. Fortunately I learned this lesson in my parking garage at 3 mph, instead of hwy speeds......

I liked the wheels better, was getting the EDC, so ZCP was a no brainer.

Only reason to really avoid ZCP is if you're going to go aftermarket anyway, what's the point in spending money on a package you're going to gut it out and put something else on.

If you don't have over $5k like some people mentioned for their superior suspension/wheels, then maybe ZCP is for you? Who knows...

It's personal preference really...

...Because with the exception of a small few who have money to burn, money/mods usually come infrequently. The ZCP may serve as a means of having a nice looking vehicle until the money is earned to modify it. The ZCP package wheels nearly pay for the package itself (..when sold on the forums). I sold mine for $2k the day after I purchased my car.

If you ordered 220M's you didn't save yourself $5k

Yes you sold them for $2,000 but run had no wheels and tires. People talk about selling the wheels like you are making money, but obvs not. How much were the wheels and tires you replaced them with? So basically you bought ZCP for a 10mm drop.

Enlighten me. If you don't want the 359 wheels ZCP seems like a waste of time. Go with EDC, get the 18s for "free" and sell those... You'll still get your $2000 for BRAND NEW wheels and tires. This would actually leave you "up".

Zcp costs 2400 (I don't even remember if that's how much it is)

Sell your wheels for 2000 you're at 400 spent for EDC.

Buy new wheels and tires for $3k, you are "down" $2600.

Buy EDC for $1000, sell 18s for $2000, up $1k. Buy new wheels and tires for $3k, you are down 2000.

So if you want to sell the 359 wheels, you are up 600 if you don't get zcp. I guess you could say the $600 is for the 10mm drop.

Sorry this is sloppy I'm in financial statement analysis class on my iPhone.
