Weak car or PSS that good?
I just purchased another e92. This one is ZCP. I've been playing around trying to break rear end loose. The back end just won't break without serious effort.
My question, does the ZCP and new PSS increase the grip that much over my non-ZCP with old contis? Either the grip is unreal or my engine is weak. I've got to think it is the former over the later. Thanks and sorry for dumb question. Just curious. |

Lol if the rear won't break loose without serious effort you may have a lemon on your hands. Straight line only I assume? It would be easy to get loose in a corner even on slicks. The PSS are an improvement over PS2's for sure but still aren't the grippiest street tire like an AD08, RE11, or RS3.

I will ask some obvious questions - MDM on or traction off all the way right? If you have full traction on, you will not be able to break the rear loose.

Ok I am missing something? OP went from a clearly inferior tire (Contis) to a clearly superior tire (PSS) AND wider wheels..
For his driving style whatever that maybe he has noticed better grip and it makes perfect sense. What is relevant about how you guys choose to break traction |

MDM will actually allow the rear end to get loose as opposed to immediately intervening to prevent any amount of drift angle. |

OP, PSS are better than than Contis but if you can't get wheel spin on a 265 rear *with traction control off* then you are doing something wrong. Hell even a 295 section R-comp is going to spin in 1st and 2nd, especially if you are trying to do it.

More stretched doesn't increase the contact patch. Even if it did the difference would be negligible.

Contact patch isn't affected by the width of the tire, only by inflation pressure and the weight of the car. As I have said before, a wide tire will have a wider but shorter contat patch while a narrower tire will have a narrower but longer contact patch. The actual contact area will be the same.
