in the first M3 picture, the sky is purplish, which is something that plagued the N95's first firmware when it first came out, the new firmware that came out(2 new ones actually) improved that purple tint, fixed the color reproduction and JPEG artifacts...[;us a buncha other bugs and it even made the phone slightly faster I have an N95, i was suffering from the same problem till i upgraded the firmware again, congrats on the car man! EDIT: is that Fox red? is it as red and beautiful as Imola Red leather from the E46 M3? |

Because I'm a brat and want one to my own spec. This car was one of the BMW launch cars, so it wasn't the actual car I ordered and I couldn't choose what went in it. As it turns out, it has almost everything I wanted anyway, but I think I'm just addicted to buying new cars, so I'd like one to my exact spec.
Over the next year or so I'll probably have a couple more - I'll get another new one when the DSG box comes out and then again when the convertible comes out. They tend to hold fairly strong residuals in the UK during the early life of the model, so I should be able to change cars without losing too much money, and as I buy a few M cars from my dealer each year, they tend to be very helpful when it comes to getting a build slot. No, they were an option. Cost just under £300 ($600) from what I remember... |

Great car and congrats! How is it with M3´s and sunroof? Is that an option on the cf roof? I see that you don´t have it on yours. Have you specced it on the other one due in November?

Well, some have said they would. The CF roof definitely has a cool factor, but in the real world the weight and COG difference compared to steel w/ sunroof (+48 lbs) will not be noticeable on the street. I really enjoy my sunroof and open it a lot; even when it's not open it brightens up the car interior (important here in the often gray NW). Still, I'll probably go for the CF.

I'm going for the sunroof also. I live in Houston and although it is always humid here, the sound of the engine comes through better with the windows down and the sunroof open.

Guessing between different pictures is futile. It obviously looks different in different lights, which means it will look any number of shades in reality.

Absolutely right! My picture was taken in bright daylight, so the colour is a pretty accurate representation, whereas the BMW picture is clearly under artificial lighting and is quite shaded. I'd say both are pretty accurate in their own right, given their respective circumstances.
Unfortunately no picture is ever going to show exactly how it looks, REP1KRR. The only way you can be sure is to see it in real life. I hadn't seen it when I accepted the car, so it was a real leap of faith for me, bearing in mind that I was quite repulsed at the thought of red leather. However, I was very pleasantly surprised when I first saw it. There is so much black in the cabin and this really helps to tone down the colour of the red. It works really well together. |
