Need some help...engine emrgency porgram actived
Hello everyone,
This is new to me. I have my son's 2010 M3 that I keep here while his is oversear. He just got the car and till today it has been running great. Took it to get gas this morning (it was very low on gas). After a quick second gear pull to 6k rpms, the car started sputtering and running very poorly. Light came on and rpms limited to 4k. I was a block away from the house so I limped it home. Lots of sputtering and strong smell of burnt gas. Increased emission came on the display. Pull the codes, cleared them and now the car will not start. Codes 2B39: Misfiring with shutdown Cyl. 5 2B3A: Misfiring with shutdown Cyl. 6 2B3B: Misfiring with shutdown Cyl. 7 2B3C: Misfiring with shutdown Cyl. 8th 2B41: Misfiring with shutdown several cylinders 2B57: Engine emergency program activated 2796: Engine emergency program activated 2B37: Misfiring with shutdown Cyl. 3 2B38: Misfiring with shutdown Cyl. 4 2B35: Misfiring with shutdown Cyl. 1 Doubt that all those coils and spark plugs went bad. Battery is fully charged and it only has 4k miles. Only mod I know the car has is a Proflex commander and coilovers. Car has about 95k miles. |

So far I have checked to have fuel pressure at 6 bar. Throttle actuators are working. Spark plugs look fine and not soaked. All related fuses are good. I got it to start again but it took a while and it ran like crap with a strong smell of gas, guessing from the non firing cylinders.

Not sure. The symptoms doesn’t seems to point to it.
Here is a picture of one of the spark plugs Leaning towards stuck injectors. Thinking running the tank low plus car sitting around, might have really sucked some crap in the tank and made its way to the injectors. Here is a video of the rough idle. It takes a long crank to get it started. Last edited by MR_X; 10-24-2021 at 07:38 PM.. |

I would honestly start at the fuel breather valve and work up from there. It is cheaper than injectors. A quick search shows that rough operation right after a fill up and a host of misfire codes are classic symptoms of FBV problems.

Even if I didn’t fully filled the tank? The pump kept stopping so I only put 1/2 tank in it.

I think spammysammich is right - classic symptoms - including the difficulty in getting a complete fill because the gas pump keeps shutting off (although the proximal cause of that may be a flooded vapor canister, encouraged by a bad breather valve). The only one you don't report is a bouncing idle.
If you're going to replace the valve yourself, do some searching/reading. Getting the rear hose off that valve intact can be very frustrating. I had to replace the hose because I lost patience and forced things- absurdly expensive part. Last edited by dpaul; 10-28-2021 at 05:26 AM.. |

Is this a serious issue to the motor? Should I change all my injectors? 65k
