Question Fake parts make me SMH

So I've been around the automotive aftermarket for a while now and not much has changed in the way of replicas and fake parts. They are still made of lesser quality materials. They are still knocking off the innovators and trendsetters of the industry. And sadly, they are still supported by vendors on the forum.

What really upsets me is the fact that the forum allows these vendors to conduct illegal activities by posting and selling these fake items. Some of the items have the original brands logo on them, and are clearly not original. This is not legal in the fashion industry. A handbag is not going to kill you if it fails, but what about a rim? I know fakes are cheaper, but since when has it been cool to have a knock off? I would rather have a less expensive, original brand, then a knock off of a high end brand. Am I alone on an island on this one?

I feel it should be the responsibility of the forum to keep it's vendors honest. Why should vendors on this forum be allowed to sell fake items to the community if it is illegal to do so? I know that there is a range of opinions on this topic so let's hear them.

So all you vendors selling fake stuff on this forum....I'm calling you out. Please explain your business ethics to our community. We're waiting.

OK, because you don't see the vendors selling fake parts in the classified section right? You need links or maybe you can click your mouse 2 more times and see for yourself.

EVERYONE on this forum knows the vendors that sell bootleg parts. They are quick to post replies and send PM's when they think they have a sale, but they seem to be running from this thread like the plague.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I've never purchased anything here before, but do people know they are being sold replicas and fake parts? if so, it's a non-issue imo.

If people are getting scammed into thinking the parts are authentic and they are not it's a different story..

Why purchase a 800+ front lip when im going to be smashing it at the track the first time i go out and it will be full of road rash. If i had a show car i would have bought an original, as a track rat no freaking way. My wagon is full of original parts because it only gets driven on the street, my ex m3 had a replica lip because i always ended up replacing it.

lmfao, OP what did you expect to see, vendors who sell "Fake parts" to actually start arguing with you in this thread? If that is what you through then you are terrible at trolling, so go try it somewhere else. If you want an argument why don't you just call some of these so called vendors out and not act like a scared little girl. and BTW is sounds like you have a personal vendetta against someone, so why don't you grow a pair and actually speak your mind

There's a big difference between selling replicas as replicas and having them priced accordingly vs. selling replicas trying to pass them off as the real thing

But an $800 CF lip that cracks at the tiniest impact is a cheaply made, overpriced part anyways. I spent a ton on my OEM M3 GTS front splitter and it survives everything because it was designed for it. My $2k challenge front splitter lasted about a month and 2 track days. Live and learn.

/thread.

Vendors who sell replicas, are clear and up front they are replicas. I have never seen a vendor misrepresent replicas as OEM parts....that is punishable by law b/c it's fraud.

What happened to it on the track? Did you go into a gravel trap or something?

As far as replicas. I don't see the problem with carbon fiber mirror covers for example. $900 is ridiculous! There's no intellectual effort in it. They simply replaced a plastic cover with carbon fiber. Lips shouldn't cost $3k either in my opinion unless they are only making a select few and keeping them exclusive.
