The video is so carelessly put together. Check out the cones on the race track (this is not driver's education!) the parked car behind the M3 in the last shot. And if you say this is a race car, have someone who wears a racing outfit drive the damn car... not a dude in a polo shirt. (doesn't Nick Heidfield need a job?)
M needs a better ad agency. What happened to the beautiful track shot of the series production car? After all the debate, I agree that this probably a great car, but the marketing is just so piss poor! If M really doesn't have the money, give the car to Top Gear and I bet they will make a world class video for free! If this is a world class GT3-ass-kicking product, market it like one! |

m3 gts : Artistic pimp video. " look at me !". macro objective, ultra fast res camera.
gt3 turbo video: classic, focused on the same old Porsche stuff and targeted to a 15-20+ yrs older crowd than the GTS. (star war like music ). long slow panoramic cruising drives. gt3 rs video: serious track driving. as i said earlier driver is in complete racing outfit. At the end not a memorable video though. some gaming influence and poor "music" soundtrack. That is when you don't hear the engine |

Looks like 3 people here have independently arrived at the conclusion that the RS video eats up the GTS video--at the least the first one. (I confess that I didn't read the entire thread and missed oneginee's initial link to the RS video, and reposted). Wake up M marketing.

This vid, that vid... Point is BMW has made a great product here. A real tuner car, instead of that watered down package they came out with at mid year.
to BMW M division. Finally, a purposeful product. |

Just a technical question or two for anyone with some video production experience...
The second video has a lot of slow-mo... Any idea what camera(s) this was shot with? What the capture rate might have been (fps... I'm guessing above 1200 fps easily)? And most importantly, is there a decent video camera in the pro-sumer level that can capture such elegant slow-mo? (I'm thinking not, but I don't know much about capturing footage for processing such silky slow-mo) Thanks in advance |

I really expect this car to be very competitive with the GT3 997.2. It has an amazing 4.4 Liter V8 motor, which is a first for BMW to put in a special edition model. Seeing the E46 M3 CSL outperformed the 996 GT3, this will definitely go head to head.

Frankly, I'd rather they spend the $$$ on developing a world class car than a world class video... but that's just me.

And if the video were perfect the posts would be a never-ending stream of "They're doing these videos because they're trying to make sure you don't really see that the car isn't the most perfect car for everyone in every real and imaginable situation in every part of this world. And DAMN - the thing won't even crank on Neptune. What a POS." |

all the fan boys in defense of the GTS, were not saying its a bad car, were saying for the world premier we would of liked a more edging video, with harder corners and better perspective of the car, obviously its going to be simular to the porsche
but the driver / track they shot the video at, didnt really bring enough to hold our interest in the whole video |
