Any Sci Fi/Fantasy readers here?

I'm looking through my collection for something to read and I'm wondering what you guys like(the few girls here are also included).

The best book I've read in a while is The Name of The Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. He's really good.

Who do you like?

I have thoroughly enjoyed books by R.A. Salvatore:

The Dark Elf Trilogy
The Icewind Dale Trilogy
The Legend of Drizzt
etc

Probably not for everyone.

Did you read, Spine of the World?

it's story about Wulfgar, one of the friend of Dritzz, it's a good read, it was the first story I read from R.A. Sal.

Wheel of Time Series? I'm pretty sure you've heard of it. It's only one of the most known Fantasy series known.

The Malazan Book of the Fallen is a good series according to my friend.

And if we want to include comics, Green Lantern. Brilliant comics.

Robert Asprin - Myth series (or Phule series)
Jim Butcher - the Dresden Files series
E. E. Knight - Vampire Earth series
Simon Green - The Secret History series
Terry Brooks - Shannara series (or his Magic Kingdom of Landover series if you want something lighter)

I really liked the Name of the Wind. I wonder when the next one will be out...

My new favorite author is Brandon Sanderson. The Mistborn trilogy is excellent and his newest book is EPIC(and I never use that word). The Way of Kings is the title. It's supposed to be the first in a long series.

Also, check out Peter V Brett's Warded Man and Desert Spear. Both awesome books.

It had been a while since I've read fantasy/scifi and all of those books were great.

I'm also a big Jim Butcher fan. All of the Dresden series books are great. I love the character. His Codex Alera series is also awesome.

Oh yeah, Simon R Green, another all time favorite. If you've never read it, start with Deathstalker and read at least the first couple in that series. Best space opera I've ever read. His newer series starting with the Man with the Golden Torc is also really good.

p.s. I think this is a good idea. Sort of a closet nerd book club.

Good suggestions all. I have read about half of what has been posted and there are some definite stand outs! BMW Nothdakota, I have read almost every starwars book in existence. All good but lately I've lost interest a bit. I am looking forward to some good reads this winter.

Yes, Definitely read the first 4 books of the Dark Tower series. 5 was so/so and 6 and 7 were steaming turds.

Great suggestions. I've read maybe 30-40% of the series listed. I have a problem finishing series though so I'm probably only a couple books deep into each series. I lose interest easily or get caught up in new stories.

I'm going to read Name of the Wind now. That book really seems highly recommended.

Name of the wind was the BEST book of that genre I have ever read, and I've literally read thousands. Go buy it. You wont be disappointed.
