Question Help Picking One: Individual Exterior Or Interior

ordering my car next month and i have a HUGE dilemma. i wish i can order my dream combo of monte carlo blue & rust brown but i simply don't have the god like funds to have me such a perfect car .

so i am stuck with the following decision: should i get individual exterior or interior?

the only thought i have on monte carlo blue is future problems matching paint for repairs, new parts, etc.

i can't think of any downside to rust brown other than in a highly unlikely event i get a rip/tear somewhere i would need to get a new piece ordered in. would this be hard to order a rust brown trim when needed?

lastly what about resale value? having such a unique option won't hurt right?

my final set of color combinations are listed below:

monte carlo blue/fox red
interlagos blue/rust brown
space gray/rust brown

so what would you guys do? exterior or interior?

Why not flip a coin for the interior-exterior?

Only you know what you can live with or can't live without. So good luck.

MCB/FR - FR is not a bright red and has a slight terra-cotta color to it, although it's not RB I think it's a good interior color compromise.

There is no dilemma: do ED and you can have Monte Carlo Blue and Rust Brown Individual options added and the total car price would be about the same as buying it in the USA. Or some $64,000 for 6MT or $67,000 for M-DCT (E92 M3, MCB/RB and required Nav/Assist/BT/USB 7KB option) if you find a dealer that can sell you at ED invoice.

And again: you do not have to break the bank for ED. It can be done for the cost of the round trip plane ticket if you really are more interested in getting the cheapest full Individual M3 possible. You can do an European vacation later when there would be no cost worries.

hey technic thanks for chiming in. i am doing ED & PCD. this is my first ED and i was amazed at difference it makes on the monthly payments (lease).

for my ED i am already cutting it cheap. just want to arrive there night before, morning get my car and have the tour of welt and stuff, drop my car off, and take the night flight home.

although i see your point of the car racking up to US MSRP and its a win-win, i just can't justify spending $10k over on individual. i don't have the exact calculations on how much extra per month my payments will increase if i add the MCB but i would rather save the extra $5k? (don't know how to put in words).

since im ordering my car next month, i would have to see if there are any changes to the rates. will have to see, but i would be pretty happy with the combinations i have mentioned above.

PS: im assuming your leasing as well? f30 m next ?

Fixed.

Total cost for Rust Brown and Montecarlo Blue is actually $7325 extra ($4600 paint + $3725 interior - $1000) over the extended leather option.

Mine is a lease, just in time for the F80 M3 is about 3 years.

quick question, where is the -$1000 coming from in your calculation mentioned above?

my goal was to lease m3 cheapest as possible and i am doing so by paying ed invoice, cheap 1 day ed trip, and maxing msd. i decided i can splurge a tiny bit on an individual option, but as you mentioned getting both would bring me back to US MSRP and that would defeat my goal.

decisions/decisions, this is much harder than when i had to configure my 1st car .

f80 m3 is going to be sweet, but after this lease is up and seeing how the market is i might be moving to my next dream, used 997tt .

thanks for your help.

If you get Rust Brown then its price includes extended leather ($1050 actually).

go for the exterior, it's what makes the car. you wont have time to pay attention to interior when you're driving it

As much as I like MCB, I wouldn't use Fox Red with it; I'd recommend either black or silver in that case. And I personally think a color like IB is too flashy and sporty to have a more "luxury" color like brown on the interior, so out of the 3 options you presented I voted for SG/RB. JB or JzB would also look fantastic with RB if you were ok maintaining a black car.

If you're worried about resale value, I think RB would be a much safer bet. Brown is a more popular interior color, and MCB is an awfully bright blue that some people might not like; I personally preferred LMB since I like that deeper royal blue. As far as repairs, on the other hand, I think MCB would actually be far easier to get replacement paint for than getting replacement RB parts. MCB is still an official BMW paint with an official paint code that can therefore be matched by body shops, whereas I don't think there are "dye codes" for leather, in which case if you did need brand new upholstery you'd have to go through BMW Individual for spare parts, which could be tricky. I could be wrong about not having dye codes though.

Good luck!

UPDATE: Found some great shots of MCB with LMB: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showpos...56&postcount=1

I agree, he has to see Fox Red in person to appreciate it. Pictures do the Red Fox no justice at all I find ...

I voted for the IB/RB, but if the finances are that close, why not just get IB/FR & not cut it so close?
