Putting ST XTA non edc coils on EDC car

Can this be done and what does it take? Do I have to order new parts?

Only the rear is different and you need to code out EDC or buy an emulation module to prevent the warning light.

You need these parts. I suggest getting them from FCP Euro, but you can buy them wherever. Save some money and buy OE brand instead of Genuine BMW. Same parts, just without the BMW logo/stamp on it.

Can’t I just swap over my stock parts from my OEM EDC shocks?

They're different. For the rear, Edc is a 14mm shock shaft, non edc is a 12mm shock shaft.

Right but if I have in tact OEM EDC rear shocks can’t I take the OEM parts off the shock and put them on the new coilover?

Of course you can. There will just be a 2mm difference in the shock shaft and shock mounts and it will clink and clunk as you drive down the road.

BTW, we're talking about 30 dollar in parts and you should be changing the mounts anyways. Look them up on fcp.

Wait I’m so confused lol I’m sorry!

I bought coilovers that fit on a non EDC car

My car is an EDC car that has stock EDC shocks.

I thought the non edc coilovers must be fitted with EDC top hats, which I can take from my stock edc shocks I pull off my car?

Or are the mounts I need even different from those?

Edc and non edc cars use different rear mounts. I gave you the part numbers you need to fit the Non edc coilovers to your car.
