DCT to 6MT: Full circle
I've just replaced my '09 e92 with DCT with an '11 e92 with 6MT.
The DCT I had was flawless and a masterpiece. What was there not to like about it? The only thing was the lack of a gate patterned shifter knob and a clutch. After three years of perfect shifts from flappy paddle pulls, including those beautiful rev match downshifts during trail braking turns, I'm happy to be stirring the box again and training myself for that type of smoothness. Technologically spectacular, and better in every performance relevant measure, but simply not as much fun, I'm glad the DCT is gone. Even winter driving will be fun again ...

I test drive the DCT, know all about it. But it felt like I was playing xBox. The way of the future I suppose. 6MT until they pull it from my cold dead hands!!!

Welcome home!
1st mod needs to be a ZHP knob and increased clutch stop to really make you enjoy that 6MT.

if the 6 speed in the M3 had better linkage I would agree with you -- but imho it's not a great shifter and the clutch pedal is too light

In other words, you got bored. LMAO
Welcome back, my friend. It was never an issue of whether which one is better. I'm sure we can all agree that it's preference.

And its great Now I have the performance knob Even better Not sure if it's because it's mostly metal, not padded leather or what But the shifts are more precise, if that word can be used about our gearbox
