Sending a google map address to the car should theoretically work on 2008 iDrives. Just look at the screen show from BMW's website, which clearly shows a 2008 iDrive menu:



Now, I have the 2008 iDrive and under BMW Assist, I admit that I do not see any submenu called MyInfo or Messages. But this may be because my sales advisor didn't activate my account properly when I purchased the car or inputted a wrong e-mail address. I'll have to call and find out what my BMW Assist account's e-mail address is.

Its a screen shot of the i-drive in the 2008 X6 that the system was rolled out in (along with a lucky number of Canadian cars). Ironically its being available in Europe for ages.
