Supercharged E90 M3 engine kaput on highway
Hi,
found this on YT (17:00 is the part of the video): What do you think the root cause is? Pretty good footage of the "engine kaput" moment Last edited by NiBe; 04-25-2023 at 05:17 AM.. |

theres gonna be a hole in the block nearest the back cylinder. when you wanna do hits on this car back to back to back those rear cylinders get hot fast.

i'm glad he's concerned about the important mods. like that the valve covers match the brake calipers.

I wonder if they did an engine break in procedure? Seems like they put it back together and went straight to the dyno and ripped on it. It’ll be interesting on how long this motors gonna last.

The good news, is this car is a 16 year old now, and there are a ton of people running superchargers these days. Main bearing failures seem to be rather rare. I expected it to be more of a thing over the years and it just wasn't. |

Yep, and this is one of those rare examples of a main failure. You can break anything if you try hard enough.
