Poll/Feedback on Stage 3 Interior Redesign

If they can call LED replacement stage 2 then I can call this stage 3

My headliner blew out over the weekend (don't speed with the windows open in a 11 year old car in Texas) and Ive decided to take on this project.

Can you help me? I am open to any type of criticism and feedback. Let your anger out.

I doubt I will find a liner to match the texture and color of the OEM pillars. Id like to go with a suede option.

Given my interior I was hoping to go either navy or black and do all Pillars.

I would then either pull the carbon vinyl off the current trim and leave it brush aluminum or cover that as well.

Am I crazy? Can I do Navy with the brushed aluminum? Black seems the most conservative but Navy would be unqiue.

Going to roll the dice with Navy Suede against Brush Aluminum Trim. Brought 8 yards, Ill have enough fabric to experiment. There are industry standard adhesives but Im going with 3M as I have used it in the past in extreme heat conditions. Ill post here as project progresses.

I think Navy and brushed aluminum would look pretty cool! I think it will look clean if done properly. Please post what you do, I'd love to see it!

We will either succeed or fail in this thread. I heard $750 - $1500 for a professional to do this. That would be well worth it, this is not a slap and wrap type of job

make sure material is elastic... otherwise you're doomed!

Definitely, a learning curve. This was redo and final. Material is very difficult to remove once it sets. Key is to allow glue to tack up prior to laying material. I undershot my use of epoxy to bring the sides together out of fear of it seeping out. Edges look decent. On to passengers manana.

Adding a side image as a separate post. Seams look much better in person. The flash of the camera and angle don't help. Also, I missed a tab with the mirror, an absolute PITA. So those are two issues Im not happy about, they bother me but not enough to tear it apart, right now. I should have double checked my work and been more liberal with epoxy on seams, perhaps even left more material.

I am eagar to move onto the passengers and then headliner, pillars and rear deck. All work should be done by end of weekend, has to be, car is my DD

Awesome project, always wished the headliner and the interior cloth pieces were black Alcantara/suede

Yep, should of went with grey but figured no way I could return material, also should contrast well with aluminum

Also wanted people to say, "who did your interior" and be able to say, "I did".

Very high end operation here, about to do passenger. This is with glue on, 3M very effective.

Headliner comes out tommorow. Loving this combo, so happy to get rid of the vinyl.

The material I am using has Rod Bearing type clearance and I was not able to get a clean finish around the controls. Debating next Step. The good news is I am more confident of getting a clean finish with the headliner, the wheel piece was complicated. At least I didn't put blue electrical tape at 12

Yeah...I'm not feeling it either. Just doesn't look quite right.

steering wheel would go nice with some blue gauge face overlays...has an Alpina feel to it.
