Nice! Any more info/pics? Whos tunning the car? Turbo size? Is there an option for mounting the turbo in place of the airbox area? a bit higher in the general location that youre now?

From what it looks like from the photos you are pulling pressurized exhaust gasses from the 2 manifolds, routing them down at the back of the engine and up to the single turbo at the front on the left side. Is this correct? If so, doesn't this increase turbo lag by having the impeller mounted so far away?

RKTunes will be doing the tune, they were pretty much the only shop/tuner that said they could actually do it. I reached out to about every known tuner and they all turned me down. Not trying to bash others or anything it's just funny how so0o many "experts" but they said they couldn't do it. Turbo size is a 70mm and I'm not worried about lag at all lol. Theres an option to mount it anywhere you want I liked this location and I didn't want to modify my stock headers.

Someone should change the title of the thread to " How to make a $25,000 grenade"
all kidding aside, There are way better engines to start this build with. If this were my car, I'd swap a built 2JZ or RB and call it a day. WAY more support for tuning, the engine won't eat itself, and you'll have a way more unique build. plus a built 2JZ can easily put down 1200 wheel HP without sweating. just my .02

What is wrong with other options/exhaust routing that require header modifications? I am not nitpicking, simply curious. Am definitely jelly! |

I didn't want to have to pull the motor and completely fabricate turbo manifolds is basically why it's where it's at plus I like the way it looks in that location. Sure you can rip the motor out relocate somethings fab up turbo manifold and do a ton of extra stuff but this was was waaay easier while being effective. The only thing I will move is my oil cooler and all I'm doing is moving it up.

Well not exactly sure how it's going to look coming out from the hood, but looks like the only reasonable place would be an exit out where the the stock airbox is. If that is the case you're obviously doing larger injectors and whatnot. Everytime you floor it. Nice big cloud of black smoke will follow being such a short run from the turbo, your windshield is gonna be dirty ass hell. Maybe entertain shooting it out of the fender where the side vent is and it could be way more discreet. That way the location could afford to add a resonator to help with the noise.
Kudos to your outside the box thinking...I know your not sweating the disbelievers but start small at 5 psi and go up from there. PS. Where is the wastegate? I didnt see the plumbing for it. |

I'm not sure what it is that the OP is looking to accomplish. By mounting a single turbo on the left side of the engine bay, but above and ahead of the left-side manifold he is creating a system whereby there is a system of complex bends between the manifold on the right and the turbo impeller and a large distance between the exhaust manifold on the right side of the car and the impeller. This arrangement necessitates routing the exhaust through the front fenders (which are a composite plastic and may not be able to handle the heat) or through the hood. Venting it through the hood will have exhaust gasses potentially being vented into the cabin, while both arrangements make connection to any sort of muffler or resonator extremely difficult. Will such an arrangement even be street legal? It seems to me that it would be far better to have custon exhaust manifolds made, use a twin-turbo system, and hook it all through the existing (or modified) exhaust system. It won't be entirely unique, but unique only garners points if the arrangement works and is useable.
