Trust me, I am the first person to call a spade a spade.

MS explained that last run of their 10mm spacers were slightly out of tolerance after machining

Guys I spoke to EAS and they are going to try and make me happy regarding my mishap. Too me that is all that matters, I am safe, and it could have been a lot worse.

Lets all lighten up a bit, this thread as twirled a little out of control. I will send you guys some pictures of the broken lugs sometime this weekend.

Cheers

I do know that Turners have tracked with their spacers. I talked to Doug at Turners and their spacers have been used on a few of their track cars. Also, like I said a few other people who do heavily track their cars told me to not use the MS spacers. I am obviously just regurgitating info.

Glad you changed to studs as well...:

all their parts look a little iffy to me. Their wheel spacers have failed; their intakes fall apart... I mean wtf is a Macht Schnell (I know the obv translation, but you get the point)

Guys they are spacers not some complex machine with intricate parts..I agree the Turners look better/stronger and they have the race lineage.

If my car hadnt come with MS on them I probably would have went with the Turners..but oh well...until my wheels fall off I will just keep on with them

First gen intakes had some issues. Mine has been rocking without issue, but I believe it is the redesigned piece.

MS is a brand created by Tom @ EAS if I am not mistaken.

$1,000 all MS is made in China... so do you really think those bolts are 10.6???

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

I stopped reading this thread around page 2 where someone said "WHO THE HELL RUNS SPACERS ON THE TRACK" That's one thing about forums and why I don't participate much. Everybody is an expert/makes assumptions/ loves to inadvertently spread misinformation etc etc

For the record racecars use spacers too. Some Porsches come (or came) with spacers stock. I myself tracked for 2 years with spacers without issues. So no running spacers on the track is not an outrageous idea and who knows where that belief came from.

Anyways I wanted to give my educated 2cent- forgive me if it's been discussed already.

This is an E46 M3 rear diff mount. Notice something similar?

It's a common E46 M3 failure. Read diff bolts get loose and back out some, or completely or snap. The thread marks (left by the bolt) are a tell-tale sign of a loose fastener.

In the case of OP what I'm seeing is 5 loose lugs and the consequences of it.

So I'd investigate and find why the bolts got loose
