This is the best ever! Can totally picture that happening.

Here are a few strange things that have happened to me since I've owned mine.

Driving on Los Feliz in Hollywood, after my full Vorsteiner conversion, a cop tails me and I'm thinking I'm gonna get pulled over for speeding, exhaust, plate, tint or something stupid. He pulls along side me and I tell my girlfriend "don't look at him." Then he pulls behind and I'm thinking ok this is it, we're done. Then he pulls along side and my girlfriend looks at him and says "I don't think he's gonna give you a ticket." I told her that we're dead. She said "He's checking out your car." So I look over, cop gives me the biggest smile cuz he knows he's been freaking me out and gives me a thumbs up. I thought that was the greatest cop ever, probably sped off to fight crime.

I had a dude fall off his bike staring at the car and got up to tell me that he loves the car and owns a 5 series.

Another time a G37 pulls up, the guy asks me to roll the window down. His passenger asks me if my car has a red interior (it was dark). I turn on the domelight. He yells out "We hate you right now. We hate you, dammit." He asked "Do me a favor and smoke us when the light turns green." My girlfriend asked me "Is this why you bought the car?"

E46 M3 at Main Street in Huntington Beach blocks traffic to tell me the car is ridiculous.

The other day, I spotted a bright silver E92 on the 101 freeway. I pass it and then it pulls up next to me and I look over. It was the hottest looking blonde, probably around 24 years old, giving me a thumbs up. I've gotten more thumbs up than I can remember. Not sure how long this will go on before these cars are so common that no one cares anymore but it's been interesting.

Don't have an E92 yet, but in the early days of my E46 on the way to work one morning I had an attractive girl pull up next to me in an E36 M3 and smile and wave. As I darted through traffic, she followed. Then her exit came up and she floored it up the ramp and was waving a business card at me the whole time. If I was not dating the woman who is now my wife at the time, I have probably whipped the car around at the next cut through and chased her down.

Its definitely fun to own a brand new highly desirable car.

I have noticed there are two kinds of people you meet on the road: Most people just stare straight ahead not knowing/caring what passes them, but then you see those who almost snap their neck to get a closer look at the car. Quite hilarous, but that is the thing I like with an M. Most people can't tell it apart from a regular 3, but those who do know what an M is notices it straight away.

Just here the other day a lowered E46 with M styling floored it to catch up with me, I was just cruising along and did not pay any attention to this as this happens frequently with E46 people around, then I noticed the girl driving it was a pretty blond, and she was waving at me - No big deal, but it was fun nevertheless.

Point is: Even though this car is rather anonymous for ignorant people, it also lets you know who got taste.

this is all very true here in LA-LA land where vanity is king - lots of thumbs up and neck snapping! i had one guy hanging out of his truck window trying to turn back to see. and then there are all the comments & questions, including the unforgivable ones like : nice M6 man... is that a glass roof... and my favorite - how much is one of those, really, damn you could have bought a 645 for that. seems like every stop is an experience... hey at least people are taking note of our beautiful machines!

Now that is my kind of car. An element of deception by surprise.

The sad thing is that in two or three years getting a thumbs up will be a rarity.
