Liqui-Moly's wording (read: marketing speak) makes it sound like it is simply filling in any imperfections at a molecular level and you're not building up a huge, thick layer. I am not a fan of oil additives in general.

I use a bottle of LM cera-tec every oil change and M1 0W40.
Don't know if the additive actually does anything but when I went in for my annual free oil change, my BMW tech didn't tighten the the oil filter cap correctly, and I was spewing oil the whole 30min drive home (yes, the add 1 qt warning did lit up, but I simply assume the tech underfilled just a tad like they always do, and didn't pay too much attention). So basically I was driving with very insufficient oil, oil temp was still a tad below the middle mark, oil pressure light never came on, and I made it home with an engine bay smothered with fresh oil. Engine never made any weird noise either, and still runs fine up to this day. Did I get lucky or cera-tec actually provided extra protection during such extreme low oil condition? |

I'm still around Dan
You had to see the tiny stream that was spewing out...it was a difficult leak to spot as I had to remove the oil filter housing lock cap thingy to see the leak. Turns out whoever worked on my car bunched up the O gasket for the housing cover...and oil was able to escape the engine. |

I bought a couple bottles MoS2 for next oil change which I will have done in May. I think I'll go that route and not Ceratec. Planning on sticking with factory oil.

Oil changed at BMW service last week and they maxed out the level according to digital dipshtick. Now I'm concerned about adding another 450 mL to the sump with my MoS2. Should I hold off adding it?

I wouldn't add more fluid if that thing is already showing full. I suppose you could siphon some out of the filter housing....or just return that stuff.
