I had a corolla with Blizzacks and it is no where near as good as my WRX or STI with continential all season tires in snow. When you have thick snow, AWD is really not much of an option. If i were to buy a 1M or M3 i'd either keep my STI or buy a used evo8 or suv for the winter.

I was visiting family in London and I had my inlaw take a test drive since he was also interested. He mentioned that the ride was excellent along with the power. He also has a boxster spyder and the C63 perhaps so perhaps nosie wasn't an issue.

Since this will be a daily car noise may be an issue along with the entry exit. I was thinking if I don't like it perhaps trade in for a RS5 or a next gen M3 or a M3 E90sedan if it will be the last.

R8 is awesome, good room, comfortable and quiet. I was considering and had test driven one but unless you're living in the UK it is as bothersome to own as your GTR. Because of worring about being keyed, I personally cannot enjoy it as an everyday car. I decided to get a nice car to drive everyday without any hassle or unwanted attention by others thus considering TTRS for daily. Good interior and fast. Just wish it was larger with more steering feel which Audi is known to forget. But at least it has a proper ebrake

I'm fearful that the days of powerful, fun sports cars except for the exotics are in rapid decline. Cars like the M3, TTRS and the like won't be here anymore in the next decade.

I'm surprised Audi made the decision to bring only the 6MT TT-RS to the US.

Considering the RS5 has DSG and the next Gallardo/R8 will probably not have a manual, this may be the last manual Audi RS in line.

On the Porsche they claim nothing but I feel the sport exhaust adds more torque. It usually adds a little weight due to the valve that makes the exhause quite or loud. Depending on mood i like this feature. You got any luck with discount?

Looks like MSRP, as my understanding there is 1000 coming stateside. It's funny though, before the crash in 08' audi R8's and S5's had a 6-12 month wating list. My dealer had 2 R8V10's and 2 R8V8's sitting on floor.

The entire western world made a faustian deal with asia for cheap labor and cheap goods. Now we all work at menial service jobs and we are broke. We did it to ourselves, sigh.

On GT3/RS the sport button (aka loud button) does add torque (Porsche confirms this) in the mid range. Other than the turbo it does nothing to increase power on the other 911s. The only Porsche with a Ti exhaust is the .2 RS with its Ti center muffler.

I will be the first person to recommend against Audi. Ive worked at VW dealer and my friend works at Audi dealer as a tech. Both Audi and VW share many components, and they both have tons of issues.

I to wanted an Audi, an S5, but after working at VW, i will not buy an Audi any time soon.

I usually don't keep a car past two years so hopefully I will not experience the electrical stuff. The good new is that my dealer provides drop off loaner service so it shouldn't matter unless i'm stuck on the side of the road.

From what i have seen, many people with their VWs and Audis spend more time in the shop then on the road.

Lets hope you wont have that issue.

I will be the 1st person to recommend Audi I had over 100k miles on my B6 A4 and that car still ran like a dream. I had 9 years of history with that car and nothing I've owned or driven previously would come even close to it's quality, performance, function, and practicality.

No major issues mechanically or electrically. Serviced on it's proper mileage service times and maintenance and upkeep was done consistently by me, never gave me ANY issues.

You could have racing slicks on in a blizzard and quattro would keep your ass on the road, imo no other AWD system even comes remotely close to it.

Only con I ever saw with the Audi is the same con you see with all luxury/high end brands, servicing can at times be on the expensive side, especially if replacing parts (if you can perform your own maintenance - problem is solved )... but other then that, the quad ring is still nothing less then amazing.

I too was scared of maintenance issues, but it is still solid as far as I can see. Have no hesitation buying an RS car, they are special toys just like ///M cars. I'll be keeping mine for a while until the F30 is looking attractive. TT RS will be a collectible for sure. I barely see a normal TTS on the streets as is

lol...these are German cars, not Japanese cars.

Take a trip over to HPFP-ville for a few minutes if you want to talk about epic reliability failure. In any event, anyone who buys a German car for its perceived reliability doesn't know how to read. Pick up any Consumer Reports from the past 20 years and you'll see that none of MB, Audi or BMW are very shop-immune. You're buying German because you want a solid, entertaining car that will keep you safe.

There would never be a second thought on an M3 or a TT. For the price of the new TT you could get a used Gen III Viper that would be much more exclusive... and much more manly.
