Goodbye M3 hello Tesla...
Have had 2 E92 M3's. A 6mt 2008 (bought new in 08) and a new 2013 M3 picked up about 2 years ago DCT.
Loved both cars but wanted a change and after driving a Tesla I fell in love and have my Model S coming in late September. Have any of you driven one extensively. Especially just cruising along the highway and then flooring it.... It's sooooo different and fun.

I have driven one and while it was fun, not sure I would make that change. I also think they are over priced but I've heard people say the e92 is too so that's all personal opinion.
All that matters is that you enjoy it! |

Yes they are very cool cars, and great looking. I nearly bought one about a year and a half ago but when I took it for a test drive I must admit I was a bit underwhelmed. At the time I was driving an E92 M3 DCT and I was expecting to be blown away by the Tesla's acceleration but I just wasn't and it was the P85 performance model. There were three people in the car so maybe that had something to do with it or maybe it wasn't charged properly but I found that even though there was instant torque, it ran out of steam quickly. When I got back into my M3 it did not feel any slower and that was confirmed by my son. What really finally turned me away from the Tesla was the very spartan interior. It just did not seem worthy of a $100,000 car. I ended up getting an F10 M5 and never looked back. Way more luxurious and faster than the Tesla. It just keeps thrusting you forward. Plus the fact that I occasionally go on long trips and I just could not deal with range anxiety. Beautiful car though, I must admit I stare at them when I see them on the road. Considering that it comes from a company with practically no history it is an incredibly impressive achievement.

Haha ... Yes I will miss my exhaust sound but cops in my area are really cracking down on everything.
Ive had 2 E92 M3's now and I've had my share. I love the E92 but I am fighting a ton of tickets... Lol... It begs to be wound up and that means speeding. There are definitely trade offs and yes I lose the sound but I gain other things. A few of my faves... - never going to a hot car again in the summer -never going to a cold car in the winter. -never being a slave to the oil companies again. Handling is actually quite amazing because of the low center of gravity. I LOVE the front trunk and the tech inside.

It's definitely a different experience. Instant torque unusually low center of gravity and that starship enterprise sound. It doesn't feel like you're driving a racecar. But it does feel a little like you're driving the future.

Lol yeah that would be nice having both.
Although at that point I would rather have a Daily 5 seater and a 2 seater fun car. Lol

It is weird that Tesla S gets my attention on the road. I spoke to lots of Tesla S owners at free vacuum places. Although I would not buy S model, it just attracts me.
I don't know it is Tesla car or Tesla company I am more interested in.... |

I hope you don't track your car because the Tesla can't even do 1 lap without overheating. Also lack of an LSD, lack of cornering grip and steering that is more numb than a minivan.
But as a daily grocery getter it is great!
