I dont dislike FI motors I own an S4 and I like it. I disagree with SC a car that came to me NA, its just a personal opinion nothing more. If the next M3 was FI I would still look into and maybe get it, cant say at this point. The message Im trying to relay is I dont dislike FI motors, I just dont care to SC my car that is NA.

It the part that you quoted is also another misguide group of words.

I do not care to write a long explanation just know that Turbos are great cars. I know this because its what I traded in for my M3. It has never over heated on me I was referring to some not so well built SC kits. 3 different thoughts just got jumbled together in my head and thats the way they came out.
Its cool man. I was just razzin you.

I would be surprised if the next M cars were NA. Everyone seems to be dumping their NA designs and focusing on FI designs so that they can use smaller motors for efficiency reasons.

Because of that, I would do exactly what these guys are doing if I had the money. As many have said, if I wanted an FI car, I wouldn't have bought an M3. I never understood it with the e46's. For what it costs to go FI, you can buy a used Porsche Turbo or now you can buy a GT-R. Both cars are designed from the ground up to accept the boost.

Considering this upgrade works with DCT, little if any drivetrain modification is needed.

The redline remains the same, the curve gets a hell of a lot fatter though, especially in the mid range. I don't know for sure, but considering the quality of the heads to make the stock power they are more than good enough so I assume they remain the way they are.

I believe RDsport already mentioned they include a full exhaust with headers in the build.
Sticky is right on the money!

In what sense? That is a question that evolves over time. The E46 M3 guys are finding new limits every day. Same goes for every M3 model.

Actually it is the same transmission as the US spec manual M5/M6, but it's been made lighter by 4kg.

All these issues were cleared with all the component suppliers prior to engineering the RS46. Based on previous experiences we had in the early 90s with the old K30.4 motor on ECE spec 320i and 520i models, the driveline, in its entirety (drive shaft, differential and half shafts), is at the top of our list of things to check.

So if I found the correct specs, then the DCT (and most likely the 6MT) can easily handle another 30% power output without breaking a sweat.
Theoretically it should be able to handle around ~630 horsepower then... good news for those of us with DCT looking to forced induction in the future.

Just out of curiousity. To those of you getting this stroker kit, what other power modifications are you going to have in addition to what RDSport provides i.e. Intake, pulley, intake scoops, etc? Not that I would think the engine would need more power, but some people can't stop (and those are the type of people that get their engines rebuilt to add horsepower )

Also, I assume that the ECU will be specially tuned for each motor rather than a generic flash.

I one of those people. Im doing it to my vert...It already has rouge pulley, Gruppe M intake , which has scoops already. Since the kit is a complete engine, exhaust and headers there wont be much room for anything else except weight reduction, better bakes, ect. I already had an Ericsson ful Ti exhaust on order and will test it when I get the car back. Dont know if I'll keep it though.

In my case I already have the Gruppe-M intake as well. And also agree that the stroker kit leaves little room for power additions. Weight reduction is the only other area now and I have done some of that such as BMW Performance Seats, CF rear boot lid, Brembo BBK that is about 18.5 kilograms lighter, 897R forged HRE's also lighter than stock.

Oh yes, I do also have an ECU upgrade (that will be replaced) as well as a Remus Racing exhaust that will as well probably be replaced.

PencilGeek,

I don't want to get too far off topic, but...

Depending on what RD Sport will be doing with the rear decklid, you should see if they'll do a one-off decklid that would accommodate the rear sensor for the Escort. Of course, you'll have to take into consideration what issues this will cause when/if you choose to upgrade the radar/laser system.

Is the Escort the best radar out there? How much do they go for and do you have to gut the car to instal it?

By the way, my BMW Performance seats appear to be arriving next week!

Radar detector debates are like that of Presidential elections. I don't want to start a war w/ the V1 guys, but from what I have been reading on www.radardetector.net forums is that the 9500ci is by far the best for Radar. Note that I specifically mention the 9500ci, because the other Escort/Beltronics detectors don't seem to have the range this does.

The laser jammer that comes in the package is good, but not one of the best. Also, head placement is the most important factor for jamming laser.

I don't want to jack this thread w/ a lot of this stuff, so PM me or start a different thread if you want to talk about this stuff.
