Mountain Run
Well I played hooky today and will be doing the same tomorrow. Going to get up super early and head to the hills of north Georgia/Tennessee/North Carolina tomorrow.
Typically I make the "Suches Loop" since I used to live relatively close to it - less than an hour would put me in Dahlonega. I know it's pretty last minute, but curious if anyone has any recommendations on routes to take? I'll be making a day of it starting with picking up my dad to ride shotgun, so preferably something that will take me up I-85 North since I'll need to head that way to pick up Pops. |

We had a blast. Did about 300 miles total today round trip from pulling out of my garage in Atlanta. Looks like only about 50 miles of that was having fun in the mountains, but 50 miles is some good seat time with a lot of switch backs. I've done hundreds of miles up in this area, but this is my first time making it through State Route 348. Picture from a turn off on 348 below.

Lots of great footage I'm sure. Post here or in the video section. Personally I like some cool music dubbed in, in spots along with the sound of the engine. Now is that an 8 cylinder you have?

ToddinTN gave me a microphone adapter for my GoPro last year so that I could use an external mic (intended location on the rear bumper of course), but I can't find my "skeleton" case for my GoPro to save my life which blocks external use. So unfortunately I think this one is going to be wind noise with it inside of its enclosed case. I've made a few videos in the past, but YouTube loves to scan for copyrighted tunes and just removes all sound entirely. I've got some videos I've made before from trips to Road Atlanta that are effectively useless now because I put a ten second clip from a song. |

Thanks! I'm about ready for some brake work, though. It definitely got the job done, but I've tried PFC pads & DOT4 fluid... Just can't seem to get the brakes up to par with the rest of the car. They're more than enough for any drives into work, but they are always my complaint with spirited runs that are very demanding on the brakes.
I don't like flashy, so maybe I'll start looking for some black Brembos or something... |
