My parking neighbor is pissing me off

In my parking garage structure, a 2004 Ford Focus, most likely driven by a female drive (never ran into the driver) parks way too close to me on my passenger side.

She has never dinged my car, but given her car is a coupe with a long door swing, i keep thinking how difficult it is for her to get into the car, considering how difficult it is for my g/f to get into the passenger side of my car.

It's been at least 6 months like this now. I want to leave a note, how can I calmly, in a non threatening manner, but sternly write her a note let her know that:

1. She's parking way too close for my comfort and that she has ample room on her side.
2. I'm a nice person, but you do not want to F*cking deal with me with if you somehow ding my door b/c of this

Friendly note would be the way I go, just make sure to sound polite and reasonable. Maybe even point out that you are a little crazy about your car and throw an "lol" in there especially if you think she is younger.

I wouldn't leave a note. I would try to talk in person. Imagine how you feel if you find a note on your car saying don't get too close/"you don't know how to park", etc. I probably would not take it in a good way, but that's just me.

That sucks that you have cars on either side..I had one lady in my complex who parks behind me (no one parks left or right of me)..I had similar problem..she was parking too close ..talked to her a few times problem solved when I threaten her with fines since I am the president of the condo board.

But seriously OP I would just wait for her one day and talk to her..do it up Tony Soprano style..lol

I know how you feel. In my apartment's garage, it's kind of a free for all, unassigned parking area. It's pretty nice since only half the tenants have cars.

We have un-spoken, assigned parking spots and this one Merc E300 always parks next to me for some reason and good lord she can't park. Lucky her car is new so she's careful but I have a feeling a bump/scratch is going to happen sooner or later.

A Bentley was parked uber close to my passenger side door this morning but it didn't bother me...I'm sure he/she can afford to fix my car.

Keep in mind everyone who has replied, I have never seen this person before. The reason is, I don't drive my car everyday, so I dont' get the chance to bump into her. Also, her car isn't there for 1 or 2 weeks a month. Then it sits there painfully close to my car for another 2 weeks.

Aww that sucks. I hate parking in a spot (assigned one no less) where the cars next to you are all screwed up.

I spend alot of time in our garage so I've met most of the car owners, including the Mercedes lady. They are all nice so it's difficult to be mean to them and correct their parking. :/

A picture of how close she actually is to your car would help.

I'll also add that an in-person conversation would be more appropriate. Maybe leave a note on her car with your phone number and something along the lines of "hey, I'm the guy who parks next to you. I have a question about our parking lot, could you call or text me when you get a chance?"

Lastly, I'm so glad that I (for the moment) do not have to deal with this. There is a pillar on one side of my car, and a guy with a meticulously kept 335i parks in the spot adjacent to me, always leaving me more than a door's width.

you're right, this is the best idea...addressing it by phone is also the better way b/c she can tell that through my voice that I'm not threatening, just concerned.

I kind of doesn't matter how close people park, as long as they can get out without their door touching yours/they care enough about other people's property.

Think of it this way, I always open the door much more slowly and carefully when I'm parked close to someone. When I'm parked further away, I have a false sense of security, and take less care - therefore increasing my chances of hitting the car next to me.

A person could park further away and swing their door wide and fast, and still damage your car. Or a nice person could park close, be careful, and never touch your car. She seems like this sort of person based on her past behaviour.

The best predictor of future behaviour is past behaviour.
