"Wait till the oil temp stabilizes at (250) before hitting max rpm"

My oil temp rarely if ever goes that high. 215-220 is more like it for my car.

Warm the tranny up properly especially if you have a DCT before driving aggressively.

Don't get too overconfident when driving to the max. The cars electronics make you seem you're so good but actually you're not!

All of the above, but NEVER take your car through the scratcher, and my sales rep calls it

This is the best advice in the post. BMW has done an amazing job of making 414hp driveable for any old schmo...but don't be a schmo, learn to drive it in al controlled environment.

You will be amazed at what these cars can do.

Latch the hood down properly. It may sound kind of obvious but I don't think many people do it right. With the hood open, notice the two latches about half way between the center latch and the front corners of the hood. Bring the hood down to about 12-18 inches from closed and put your two hands over the two latches and press down in one solid push. You don't need to slam it but just equal pressure on both sides. Once properly closed the hood should be flush on both sides and feel secure.

Not unless you want those rocks to hit your windshield. I left 100 yards to a 520i series going rather fast (to show me probably) and I got a beautiful rock chip in my windshield RIGHT in front of my eyes, tiny, but unbelievably annoying. I was leaving a distance exactly to avoid rock chips on the paintwork, but that wasn't to my advantage. Good thing for the 0 deductible.

A week after I had my windshield replaced, I hear another piece of rock or tiny debris hit my window again, no mark this time. Since that incident I'll take a bumper rock chip any day.

Make sure the dealer changes the transmission fluid (if you have a 6MT) and also the diff oil during your 1200 mile service.

Alot of people didn't have them done at their 1200 mile service.

Be careful not too open doors too wide, or too hard...the door is very wide and heavy and could easily bend hinges and become out of alignment, after that your M3's door will never be the same... This happened to my car...as I was getting out, a sudden gust of wind pushed the door wide open, I didn't even notice anything wrong till few days later. I tried to fix it many times, and it's just never the same...

If you get a chip in windshield, don't go to "Joe Schmo" to replace windshield...make sure to go to a legitimate company and only replace with original equipment. I had a small stone chip in my BMW, made a mistake trusting a referral to "Joe Schmo Auto Glass" they installed "made in China" glass...overall, I had to redo the glass 5 times in different shops here in Brooklyn... unbelievable!

Don't listen to anyone who tries to tell you that a 335i with a tune performs better than your M3. They're jealous liars!

If you order one from the factory try to go into a coma until it arrives, if you don't you will be so obsessed with waiting that you will be useless to man or beast.

hahaha Same here. I've waited a little over a month, and it's been painful. Hey, but if I look at the bright side, I have less than 3 weeks to go!

During the wait time, I strongly urge you to use that time to research your mods!

Two more months for me, One month done!

As for mods I think I'll start with a set of nice 19" wheels when I finish shredding the 18" oe tires and use the 18's as winter wheels. Maybe an exhaust system that's not too loud, light tint, and a chip of some sort.
