Yup. Sedans need full cages. It's in the Geneva convention.

Interesting choice to go with Alcon, it's not the common setup we see. Any specific reasons you chose it?

I think that the really 2 serious systems available today are the AP Racing and the Alcon (no offense to others choices). Seems like PFC is out of this game now.

The shop I am working with had some concerns about rotor quality and even pad wear with the AP Racing kit, so we went with the Alcon kit via Bimmerworld. It's a new setup on the E90, but not a new caliper or rotor.

We will see how it goes.

These should start to show up on Bimmerworld's website soon. Took a while to get these together due to COVID and shipping delays. These look similar to the AP Racing kit, and we will see how they perform on track. Should be a solid upgrade from the PFC Z 31 kit I had before.

I'll post some more pics once they are installed next week.
How much do they weight vs. the AP kit (the 9668)?

Good question. Here is the spec sheet. I'll see about the rotors.

Concerns about AP Rotor quality? Not sure what that's about.......The metallurgy and structure of AP's rotors has always been regarded as one of their greatest strengths. I have personally pounded on two different AP kits for 8 years/150+ track days and never had rotor issues.

On my Essex AP kit, I do have one front pad that seems to wear faster than the others. I'm probably about due for a rebuild on the calipers, so I'll have Essex check it out. As far as support, Essex is excellent in that regard. Who is going to do tech support and service the Alcon stuff?

To be honest - I don't really know what it's about either. I know the AP is a popular kit that people have had good results with for a while. Seen it on our M3s, and a few M2s.

I think I'm a bit of a guinea pig with this kit but I think the risk is low. I expect Bimmerworld to provide good support. They have always been there for me previously.

Car is cleaned up and heading to fabrication for full cage with rear subframe and front strut tower ties ins. AC and heater deleted. Wiring harness being thinned out and some other weight reduction. Then to paint and re assembly.
