Hey all. The names Mark, new member here. I'm a long time lurker that's always fancied M cars but stayed true to my colors and have always built Honda's since a kid. My most recent ownership was a 1998 Integra Type R that I restored back to its OEM glory. I would attend my local Cars & Coffee gatherings and find myself drooling over the most recent M3's and 911's. At that point I knew it was time. Started my obsession about a year ago, watching every and any YouTube video I could find. Joining the Facebook owners grouped, just to get a feel. I liked what I saw.

A year later I'm an owner. Here's my newest patient. I absolutely hated this color when I first started looking, but it grew on me. Especially when the paint was like glass and was coupled with a Fox Red gut.

It's an 09 with 50k miles. Cars basically in the wrapper. PO just didn't love it like I will. This thread is to keep tract of my rejuvenation of the car. Nothing but BNIB OEM parts will be installed because that's just how I roll.

After getting her home and giving her her first decontamination wash, I found my first course of action. The car will get a full paint correction followed by the tried and true Jescar Powerlock+ and Colinite 845 combo to seal things up. The glass on the car will then be treated with Wolfs sealant. Somethings I'd like to refresh sooner than later:

- New OEM carpeted floor mats
- New OEM 3 button switch by shifter
- New OEM center caps
- New OEM badging
- New OEM door sills
- New OEM windshield moldings
- New OEM steering wheel
- New OEM DCT knob

I come from the Type R game where everything is discontinued so hopefully I don't hit any snags on my first parts run.

Thanks for reading. If you guys would like to follow more videos and content you can find it here.

Looks great already. Funny you hated the color before.

I can't recall seeing an E9X M3 in a bad color. These cars had great factory color options.

Thank you.

I guess it was more seeing JB with a bunch of swirls in direct sunlight. Looked horrible to me. My original color choice was AW on FR. Then I saw this car and basically fell in love.

Yup I'm jet black and when taken care of these things are beautiful. Mine is like midnight oil. But that's the kicker. "Taken care of". Sounds like you will. Enjoy it and welcome to the clan.

Looks great and welcome!

Fellow JB/Fox Red here. While it can be a pain to keep clean, JB can look amazing in different lights. The blue tint seems to get a lot of compliments. Plus, it makes silver wheels really 'pop'.

Thanks for all the kind comments guys.

I made my first order from FCP Euro today. Just an OEM oil change kit and a set of OEM wiper blades.

Here's a pic from the decontamination process yesterday. We used a citrus based foam and Meguires Wheel Cleaner on the wheels and exhaust to rid the iron. Next step was getting her back into the garage out of this cold New England air to drip dry the next few days.

We will be awaiting some detail products from Amazon for step 2 of the decon. Clay...

Small update. Picked up my OEM oil change kit and a few small nicknacks from FCP Euro today on my lunch.

Strange thing. I usually pick up a new OEM gas cap for all my restorations. Looks like BMW has changed from the original OEM cap look. I don't like it. I'll be returning it and if someone knows of the correct part number for the OG cap that would be awesome.

Installed a new set of OEM wipers today and ditched the Valeo's. Nothing like OEM fitment and quality in my world.

I did forget one thing though. Doh! FCP says they'll be here tomorrow. You rock!

Incoming....

FCP is going to have me going broke. Picked up a few things I needed today.

OEM upper windshield reveal
OEM wiper caps
OEM oil cap
OEM washer fluid cap
OEM hood struts
OEM center caps
OEM cup holder trim and face plates
OEM sparks plug interval stickers

Other stuff I'm probably forgetting.

Got to installing this evening.

You can clearly see the failed oil cap seal.

I tried a new replacement cap of that style and it ended up leaking again, I finally got the new revision (11128655331). The new one has not leaked yet, doesn't look as cool though lol
