Second one is newer but I am not a fan of the 2 tone interior. If you don't mind that, usually better to get the newer car if you don't mind the additional cost.

I'm also in the market for a space gray m3. I had communicated with seller of that 2009 and he seemed honest and the car appears clean and is fully loaded. That being said, I decided to hold out for a ZCP package. I'd go with that 2011 if you don't mind the lack of nav and other options.

Bought the 2011 this evening. Detailing and tint tomorrow before I pick it up. Probably new exhaust in a few day (if even just muffler). Can I, or or is it best not to do coil overs with an EDC car?

Yes you can run coil overs but you need a edc error delete module or coding. You may want to start with test pipes or an x pipe, which sound fairly aggressive with oem rear section.
